I’ve wondered why they don’t let the ocean drain into the Salton Sea and set up solar evaporation units, like the ones in emergency kits that have a tent over evaporating water. Maybe they could even use solar panels to speed the evaporation.

Water is right there with food and power as something the government should promote.

You and I think it’s easier than it probably is, but it is settled science. I agree that food and water are top of the food change when it comes to what the government should plan for.

When I say that, I also want to recognize that the government shouldn’t be providing either one.

What it should do is highlight the need and get out of the way of private enterprise and it’s ability to produce.

The Salton Sea is the result of a Colorado River flood back around 1900. There’s no practical way to get ocean water into the Salton basin.
