Lindsey Graham is telling donors that June 1 is the likely date for his presidential announcement, according to several sources familiar with the conversations.

The announcement would likely take place in South Carolina, possibly near his home base of Seneca, according to the sources, which would enable the GOP senator to highlight a compelling personal story not widely known outside his home state.

Why doesn’t every Republican politician in the party just go ahead and run and be done with it.

There aren’t enough Log Cabin Republicans to help him get very far.

The GOP nomination is a game that bored rich RINOS buy into like they’re buying loads of raffle tickets. “Aw what the hell? I’ll play. Might get to live in the White House for awhile.” I am so totally disillusioned with politics. I know I need to be aware of what’s going on but it smells so bad, I need major breaks for fresh air. The lack of focus and seriousness on the right is going to cost them the next election. Good God, what a mess. Freaking Graham? Aaaagh!

As always, Freepers KNOW this is just a scam to control SC primary....enabling Bush to actually win the primary. It may work.....

Bush and his money work the primary voters into a split and leave him the winner.

The huckster and Carson(a decent man but not pres) will take votes from Cruz,Walker and maybe Rubio(we can argue over Rubio later)and Paul’s followers will do everything to keep Cruz down.

What’s the point of idiotic announcements like this?
My thought, the money. A semi-legit way to get semi-rich.

Who in their right mind would give money to Graham?

I would.

If he'd resign his office and move to the left coast.

(Oh. You said in their right mind...)

Regardless of whether he gets the nomination or not, Cruz has changed the conversation. They can't take that back.

Looks like the conversation has sure changed in England! {^)

Let's hope it's a harbinger for America.

You are looking for a rhetorical win, as are many on FR ...

With respect, Johnny, you are mistaken in two ways: 1) I and a lot on FR know the dif between rhetoric and substance. We're looking for a REAL win, not pinning our hopes on winning via a nomination via the same party operating on the same protocol that nominated hated leftist functional Democrat Republicans the last TWO TIMES. Already, EVERYTHING is lining up for it to happen again in 2016.

Is it mere "rhetoric" to hope/suggest that Cruz goes on OFFENSE and declares himself free of Republican limits and deceits, instead of staying on defense, where he cannot "speak ill of another Republican" in order to connect with Americans sick of the Uniparty garbage and functional Democrat "Republicans" of '08 and '12?

2) YOU are an example of how rhetoric -- writing and opining on FR -- is a GOOD and concrete thing. It isn't because you donated money to a candidate that you've swayed hearts and minds. Johnny, every single candidate I've ever donated to has LOST except for Scott Brown vs. Kennedy's seat way back when, and look what THAT "Republican" did in return. Had I known, I'd have sent my money to FR instead of to him. Nonetheless, your constant harping that one basically isn't worth spit unless on puts money in place of mouth, is CORRECT and having its affect on folks who respect you. What you call mere rhetoric is accomplishing it. I donate $$ to FR, often more than I can really afford, so guys like you can contribute such truly valuable "rhetoric."

Johnny, it's highly unlikely Cruz is going to get the GOP nomination even if 75 percent of Republicans want him -- look at '08 and '12. I'm saying that going on offense -- anticipating now that trying to get the nomination through the Republican primaries, recognizing now how throwing off the restrictions of being "Republican" means that Cruz can rightly and frankly criticize moderate and leftist Republicans without being accused of breaking Reagan's 11th commandment, is an option and possibly a very good one, that things are shaping up more and more that it is.

I’d guess the only reason he’s in is to be the attack dog on Rand Paul’s foreign policy in case Rand starts polling well against Jeb, etc.

Graham, Huckabee, and maybe even Santorum are going in to try and take out a certain anti-establishment candidate to clear the path for Jeb or possibly Rubio

Where does that come from? I don't expect the 'conventional wisdom' of the last few elections to apply this time. Too many conservatives are too angry.

I'm certainly not hating on anyone that disagrees with me, I just don't believe that 'conventional wisdom' will win out this election.

And yes, I do consider what I do here on FR to be mere rhetoric, not amounting to a hill of beans unless I'm actively organizing some group against gun control or getting rid of Dewhurst (we did get rid of Dewhurst).

For me, anything on FR is just rhetoric that doesn't mean much on the ground game until something gets organized.

I hope you're right. It will be good crow to eat.

You may consider what you do on FR as 'mere rhetoric,' but when you actually convince people to ACT toward doing something, as you HAVE done, then the results of your rhetoric are as concrete as the results of your organizing.

Be well, FRiend!!

As of this date, FIFTEEN Republicans have declared their candidacy for their party's 2016 presidential primaries, according to Presidential-Candidates.org, and that does NOT include Lindsey Graham, who hasn't yet officially declared.

How many Democrats have declared for their party's 2016 primaries?

SEVEN.

I maintain that having more than twice as many candidates competing against each other is OVERT SABOTAGE on the part of the GOPe so that the Republican primaries are so diluted with vanity candidates that the most likely "winner" is the least reflective of the majority of Republicans, but most reflective of the GOPe moderates. They know what they don't want, so they foil it.

The Democrats, meanwhile, don't play this nutty game in their own party. They know what they want and they go for it.
