....deputies are being charged by the state attorney's office with misdemeanor offenses after video captured an arrestee being struck and thrown to the ground, and the lawmen's boss says he "fully supports" the prosecutor.
Deputy Michael Manresa, 30, received a summons to appear in court in June for the misdemeanor charge of falsifying records. Deputy Justin Lambert, 34, was notified he faces that charge as well as one of battery, also a misdemeanor offense.....
....Gonzalez was using a crutch, carrying an empty beer can and smelling of alcohol, the deputies said. He was belligerent and swore and lunged while raising his hand, according to the deputies' reports. Gonzalez was arrested on suspicion of two counts of resisting an officer without violence.
A video released in May 2014 showed Gonzalez being struck before he was thrown to the pavement and handcuffed. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that his attorney said included broken bones around his eye.
"I saw the video, like the rest of the county," Broward Sheriff Scott Israel said Thursday. "The state attorney's office made a decision to charge them criminally with misdemeanors, and I fully support the state attorney's decision."

Here are the reasons I can offer:
1. Broward is extreme leftist Democrat. Sheriff is buddies with Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Highlighting Democrat controlled police abuse in an election year won't fit the media template.
2. Victim was an old Hispanic man. Maybe even a "white Hispanic"...so again, why would the media care?
That was a brutal. Way over the line.
Believe it or not, the deputies reported that they “escorted the subject to the ground.”
I have a court case over a false arrest and was stunned by the total falsehoods during depo by arresting officer.
Escort means to lead or go first. The way I saw it, the "escorted" gentlemen found the pavement with his face while his hands were held behind him.
Cops deal with bad guys every day and, unfortunately, many think that it’s okay to lie in order to get a conviction.
Sorry to hear you found yourself in the belly of the Beast. Best of luck.

I’m getting damn tired of thug cops.
Dicks....
Looks like he fell down..../S
Not as tired of them as the people who dealt with them before ubiquitous cameras.
The police were provoked.
A friend who worked in a coroner’s office said cops lie even when they don’t need to. He said it happened in court a lot.
Again you nailed it. Broward county is beyond extreme left though. having said that the T party got its start here and there are a few solid, I mean SOLID conservatives here.
I live in an over 55 community and mayber 90% would eat muzzie vomit if obama told them to do so!
BTW, at our next meeting Im going to try to organize a road trip to Tampa for the Cruz rally..in July.
This does not excuse rioting thugs and looters, but it is helping everyday Americans see things with a little more clarity. I just wish this weren't all being used by the povery pimps to further their agendas. Unfortunately, opportunists are everywhere.
