Thanks for that informative post.

As I see it, many women have been sold the lie that they can "have it all" usually by advertisers. No one can have it all. Life is a series of compromises.

That’s another part. Yet another part is advertisers, columnists and advice forums telling women that their relationships should always be filled with romance, that the man should always be worshipping her, sweeping her off her feet, constantly introducing new things that she likes into a relationship; that the relationship should forever be fresh and new and it should be like a fairy tale.

Only problem is that life isn’t like that. Eventually everything settles down to at least some semblance of routine - and these ‘advisors’ are telling women that if it does that’s always bad and they should demand more.

I call it ‘pretty pretty princess syndrome’ and a shocking number of women have been sold on this. I recently watched it destroy a friend’s relationship where they were the perfect match for each other in interests, abilities, temperments, etc., - but she’d been sold the pretty pretty princess line and she dumped him saying that “things had become routine and that was a sign the relationship was failing.” Marriage had been considered; fortunately for the guy it hadn’t gotten to much more than kicking around the idea.
