Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren Scolds Pamela Geller

Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren Scolds Pamela Geller

By Erik Wemple May 6 Before embarking on a television career, Fox News host Greta Van Susteren worked as a highly successful trial attorney. She graduated from Georgetown Law, represented clients in federal and state venues and picked up her share of accolades along the way.

And last night she ditched her legal-eagle sophistication in a monologue criticizing activist Pamela Geller for putting the lives of police officers on the line at an event Sunday in Garland, Texas. “Everyone knew this event would unglue some who might become violent,” said Van Susteren.

In a story that has resurrected a fierce debate on the First Amendment, two gunmen on Sunday were killed by police after they descended on the Geller-organized event showcasing cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad. The Islamic State terror group has claimed responsibility for the attack and U.S. officials are investigating any possible link. Geller is president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), a group that bills itself as a protector of U.S. constitutional freedoms but that the Southern Poverty Law Center calls an “active anti-Muslim group.” Muslims consider depictions of the prophet offensive. In January, terrorists carried out a massacre at the Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo magazine, which had repeatedly satirized Muhammad.

So Van Susteren scolded Geller for holding the cartoon contest. “My message is simple — protect our police. Do not recklessly lure them into danger and that is what happened in Garland, Texas at the Mohammed cartoon contest,” she said. “Yes, of course, there’s a First Amendment right and it’s very important, but the exercise of that right includes using good judgment.”

In other words, watch what you say, or draw.

I’m surprised at Greta.

I am not. I no longer watch Fox, but I will never forget that hag relentlessly bashing Ken Starr during the Clintoon impeachment. Her allegiance was transparent. Never trusted Clutch Cargo mouth just because she was now yapping on Fox. Once a liberal, always a liberal, though a prostitute, always for sale.

You are exactly right. A lot of them don’t know what it means to be conservative.

That is why some slung insults at Ted Cruz the day he announced and continue to fawn over Jeb Bush. They kid themselves that, from their downtown Manhattan skyscrapers, they can guess what the hayseeds, hillbillies and gun toting rednecks out here in middle America want and then are shocked when a milquetoast like their boy Romney loses. Even if you discount voter fraud, Mittens wouldn’t have had more than the slimmest chance because was their guy, not ours.

There are some good people on Fox to be sure, but there are others who are not to be trusted.

It wasn’t very good judgment to try to shoot up a room full of people for drawing cartoons. That’s why those 2 are dead. If 2 Christians had did that over a piss Christ drawing, they would be vilified as extremists. I’ve been a fan, but Greta is dead wrong on this one. What we need to be thinking about is crossing the border and killing all those muslim extremists. Mexican govt can stay out of the way.

Greta, you uninformed one, you need to read the Constitution and the 1st amendment. It is called Freedom for your information.

That’s the way I see it too.

I’m not convinced they cared if Romney lost.

The Party leadership still gets donations and the machine rolls on.

I’m not surprised folks sling mud at Ted. They can’t grasp why he’s a good man. Folks here can’t.

It’s a hoot to watch folks who think they are Conservatives support a man who lies to them.

It’s like this mental deficiency kicks in and they can’t help themselves.

FoxNews likes to say they are fair and balanced, and I think it tries to get thing fairly right. It’s management simply doesn’t grasp Conservatism.

They think Conservatism should be made up of people who run against Democrats, but it doesn’t come down to policy. It comes down to popularity contests.

To heck with limited spending. To heck with strong defense. To heck with balanced budgets. To heck with the Constitution. None of that matters. It’s high school all over again, and that handsome athletic guy is running...

That’s about it, and it’s why FoxNews can’t get it right.

Greta’s use of the word “unglue” is the tell-tale.

She thinks (or pretends to think) that Jihadis are “crazy,” and it is therefore “irresponsible” to “provoke” them.

It’s like a Soviet citizen telling another, “Don’t say that. The KGB might get unglued. You know how crazy they are.” Anybody who attributes his oppressors’ behavior to mental illness is never going to form an effective strategy for overthrowing them.

Jihadis are not crazy. They are believers in an evil ideology. Our target must be the evil ideology. The notion that they are “crazy” is a dodge. It’s a distraction from the REAL problem and the REAL enemy: Islam.

They are going to murder us even if we don't draw cartoons.

That's the reason people want to draw them - to get the message out before it's too late.

This primordial hatred of dogs is one more reason to recognize Islam as demonic.

I remember when Greta first appeared on TV. It was during the OJ Simpson murder trial and she offered legal commentary.

This was before she had plastic surgery and her hair was long and greasy.

Greta thought Simpson was innocent.

If Pamela Geller and the artists are guilty then charge her and them with a crime or file a lawsuit. There are none and none are coming.

If the violent criminal Islamists were still alive they would be in police custody and charged with multiple crimes including attempted murder.

Westboro Baptist church won their right to freedom of hate speech at the Supreme Court and their right to protest in public. Geller would also win at the Supreme Court for holding a private political protest.

It may be illegal to falsely yell fire in a theater and put unknowing people in danger but what if everybody in the theater plans it all out and all falsely yell fire at once? Is it still illegal? In other words, everybody there knew the risks including the police officers who were most likely paid extra to be there. They may have even volunteered. Cops are always at risk of losing their lives.

Sorry folks. If they can’t figure out what the heck they are really saying, it’s over.

I’m afraid we are surrounded. Even People that we assumed knew what is happening have gone off the edge.

Have any in the drive by media interviewed any of the cops who were actually there to get their opinion? They must support Geller or they would be all over the news.

Where are all the public opinion polls? They must support Geller or they would also be all over the news.

So Van Susteren scolded Geller for dressing so provocatively. “My message is simple — protect our police. Do not recklessly lure them into danger and that is what happened in Garland, Texas” she said. “Yes, of course, how you dress is your right, but the exercise of that right includes using good judgment.”

Saw that yesterday. Greta lost a viewer.

Greta, Trump, CNN, MSNBC, the rest of MSM, O’Reilly, Laura, et al. are wrong. If she is so right, tell me when we stop kissing Islam's arse? After a Muslim man rapes her neighbor's daughter, like Muslim men are raping Sweden's daughters and wives? Will Greta stand up when our throats get sliced like van Gogh’s great grand nephew for disagreeing with Islam? When is she and the rest of the elitist pussies going to take a stand? Van Gogh was murdered in broad day light on the streets of Amsterdam in 2004 for making and distributing a 10 minute movie. Greta and and the rest of Western Civilization do not deserve the freedom our ancestors fought and died for. Shame on Greta, Trump, CNN, MSNBC, the rest of MSM, O’Reilly, Laura, et al.

Here is a tribute to Van Gogh. Does Greta and like minded elitist pussies have the guts to watch it? Maybe one day Greta will lie dead in the street for not wearing the Hajab. The nerve, a Western woman not wearing the Hajab, of course she deserves to be killed. And how dare she put the police into danger by not wearing one!

Well said. You just provided the best rationale why we should keep doing this on a daily basis.

Apparently, Christians are supposed to be quiet and turn the other cheek when a figure of the crucifix is placed in vat of urine, or an exhibit of a cow-dung smattered painting of the Virgin Mary finds its way into a museum, or Jesus is portrayed a gay and married, but draw a cartoon of Mohammed, and people come unglued, and Pam Geller is to be blamed.

Time for O’Reilly, Geraldo, and Greta to get off and join CNN.

Greta goes onto my do not watch list.

Pamella is a hero and should not be shouted at but praised for standing up against the people that stand with Obama.
