When was the last time a oil pipline accident caused a whole town evacuation?
Just Curious...

I don’t think it ever has resulted in an evacuation.

Wait a tic...isn’t Buffet a big lefty supporter? This would certainly make sense as to why the left is against the pipeline - it would cut into buffet’s profits!

Less than 29% of the people in this county voted for BO in the last election, so they aren’t exactly his people.

When was the last time a oil pipline accident caused a whole town evacuation? Just Curious...Remember, there are 27 residents in the town, and compare the evacuation to a similar number of people.

Can only imagine how bad this would be if the train derailed inside the pipeline! /S

The 30 or so residents were displaced.?
I’m sure FEMA has some Katrina trailers enroute.

Yeah, and Buffett was against it before he was for it. That asshole is all about manipulating his own profits and those of democrats.

what is important is the Buffet lobby money is still flowing to the elected officials.
if that would stop we might build a pipeline.

It has happened. Pipelines have an advantage on cost and few spills. Rail has greater flexibility. Pipeline will occasionally have a leak; sometimes far larger spill.
Moving hazardous material is hazardous.

So what are the numbers... the odds of a oil car derailment vs. that of a non-oil car of similar weight.
Are these oil cars having problems at a disproportionate rate?

It might not be terrorism.
On the other hand, what union is supposed to maintain the tracks?

Crude as drilled is flammable in air. That is a problem. Might there be a way of mixing it with a fire suppressant that can be easily separated at the refinery end?
