Point taken
Miami is now a porn producing area like The Valley
We avoid Ocean Drive area
The Sagamore is as far south as we go to stay
We do the beach in front of the hotels
Those Deco hotels are very nice and usually we’ll run
We don’t club but we might do the hotel bar
The bar at the W is interesting
We do Lincoln road outdoor eating and tacky shopping
Espanola Way eats
That little Italian joint on Alton by the canal
Joes occasionally it’s kinda touristy
South pointe stuff is nice overlooking govt cut a friend of mine lives there but very pricey
When I was there 88-94 the action was the Grove
Now the Grove at night is iffy
We lived on Brickell and Sorolla in Gables and down old Cutler by the boots
I went to Miami beach then for Joes Wolfies Woodys or cafe de arts
South beach was still mostly dilapidated
For beach I went to key Biscayne or too my gofast to little islands south of the stilts
But man the issue today as much as the rot of thug culture is the dade population and traffic
40% increase in pop
And traffic is horrible now like Atlanta
But we still like the place and we have friends there and lauderdale
It’s like New Orleans you just look on the bright side
I’m fluent in Spanish and portugese and spent 17 years much further south so I reimmerse easy
Miami and Dallas and Seaside are my wife’s fav places
It’s my opinion only...no worries if we differ.
Next time you’re in Miami you ought to try out a few restaurants near my place. One is called Sazón. It’s an awesome Cuban place with some of the best mojito’s I’ve ever had. The other favorite of ours is called “Las Vacas Gordas”. That’s an Argenitne steak house—best place I’ve eaten Gaucho meat ever! Sure, you’ll notice the LGBT flag on the door...but the food makes up for it.
If I’m near the grove, I like Monty’s—it’s ok. The further north you go for beaches, the cleaner they get—if you know what I mean. I stayed in Pompano one time and while I hate that city, the beaches were resort like clean and not a thug in site.
I agree with you on traffic. It takes me a little over 45 minutes just to go to my favorite cigar shop in little Havana down those ratty interstates.
I’m also fluent in spanish, but could never master portuguese (sounds like drunken spanish to me sometimes). I’ve noticed in my area a huge influx of brazilians and argentines over the past 5 years. They’ve literally taken over the strip where I live by.
