The man at the microphone spoke in a language most Republican presidential primary voters do not understand.
"You are part of the new wave of hope for this country," Jeb Bush said in fluent Spanish to the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference this week. Switching to English, he said the U.S. needs immigrants for the country "to become young and dynamic again."
It doesn't seem to matter that Hispanic voters typically do not have much say in Republican primaries. The former Florida governor's play to Hispanic values and policy goals has begun to shape his young political operation. Well before the first votes are cast for the Republican nomination and even before he declares his candidacy Bush is strengthening ties with Hispanic voters who will be important in the head-to-head contest for the presidency in 2016.
At his side throughout this week's appearances in Puerto Rico and Texas was Raul Henriques, a fresh-faced "body man" recently hired because Bush wanted a Spanish speaker to travel with him regularly. As well, Emily Benavides stood at the back of the hotel ballroom during Bush's Houston address Wednesday, now on board to advise him on Hispanic media. And Bush's Mexican-born wife, Columba, is expected to start doing more in the rising campaign, also with Hispanic media.
Bush primarily speaks Spanish with his wife.

I’m just wondering through all this is whether he considers himself of part of the aristocratic European Hispanic elites, the ancient proud Incan and Aztec descendants, or just the garden variety desert Peon denizen. Inquiring minds want to know.
You must be talking about Imeldalina Bush, huh?
You would think that after all these years in the United States, Columba Bush would be able to and want to speak English.
If she wants to speak Spanish all the time, she can deport herself back home to Mexico.
This country is finished. I saw a map of the U.S. that was posted here a while ago. It showed the Northeast being a part of the EU, the South and Southwest being a part of Latin America, the Pacific Rim part of China, and the Northern states being part of Canada.
Jeb should run for office in Mexico where he will be among the people he really represents.
What it tells me is a deep seeded disdain (minimally) for the country of her husband’s birth, especially since they don’t live in her mother country.
I hear she has a penchant for extravagant shopping. It reminds me of Imelda Marcos of the P.I.
That said, it speaks volumes about the Dauphin and his influence. He can’t even stand up to his wife and demand she learn English and be able to use it the same way he does to pander to a constituency for motives that have nothing to do with the future well-being of this country. It is disgusting. There is no way that I well ever vote for this man. If he’s on the general ballot, I will stay home.
Dear Mr. Boosh,
Where do you propose all the necessary jobs for these future young and vibrant Americans come from or are we going to just put them all on the government teat? You obviously cannot read the the financials for this country and they are not good for future generations.
Oh, I think I can see your reasoning now, we will all either mow each others lawns, do each others laundry or all become taco benders? At least they will be young and vibrant.
Jeb could have sent her to ESL classes after he brought her over.
He’s just whipped in the sexual meaning I think. She must give one helluva.........
The global elites will live lavish lifestyles, be portrayed in the media as adorable "beautiful people", ala JFK.
The global elites will make all the decisions for you and I -- as to where, and what level of poverty we will be required to live.
And for how long we will be permitted to live.
And we will be treated to bread and circuses (or bull fights and wrestling)
Soap operas and dramas por nuestras damas.
Don’t speak Spanish, but every Latino I talk to in English says that Jeb’s talk is insulting to them. They think treating a group of people as a single block of votes driven by a single agenda is racist.
There is a large population of Latino’s that don’t speak English, most of these are illegals. I am told by the English speakers that most of these people can be broken down categorically:
1. don’t want to stay in the US (here for a job), too expensive in the US and their ties to home are too great
2. here for criminal activity, drugs, smuggling, etc..
3. here to stay and attempting to live underground and soak up as much benefits and money as possible. This means no income taxes paid (sorry Oregon).
#3 For this group, the focus of the Democrat’s is for them to come out of the shadows, what they don’t understand, this group doesn’t want that. Yes, they want driver’s licenses etc..they want free stuff, but they don’t want to pay anything. This is the group that we are seeing the huge surge lately of unaccompanied minors. You get money for dependents.
They tell me these groups are nearly evenly split. This might be a local observation. But press reports lead me to believe this is a national phenomenon.
Soaps! Ha! I’m reminded of a skit where a “daily ‘my stories’ “ episode advertisement was about Don Juan DeVasco with his deep voice saying “Por que?” over and over in all its subliminal emotion when confronting “Maria” about her infidelity......some funny stuff.
WHOA my mom watch that Soap LOL!
