Americans are bracing for a summer of racial disturbances around the country, such as those that have wracked Baltimore, with African Americans and whites deeply divided about why the urban violence has occurred, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll has found.
A resounding 96% of adults surveyed said it was likely there would be additional racial disturbances this summer, a signal that Americans believe Baltimores recent problems arent a local phenomenon but instead are symptomatic of broader national problems.
When asked to explain recent events in Baltimore and other cities that have seen confrontations between police and members of the African-American community, blacks and whites viewed the situation differently.
Asked to choose between two possible explanations for recent events, 60% of blacks said they reflected long-standing frustrations about police mistreatment of African Americans. Some 27% of black respondents said the disturbances were caused by people who used protests over an African American man dying in police custody as an excused to engage in looting and violence.
But among whites, the balance of opinion flipped: 58% said people were seizing an excuse to loot, while 32% said the events reflected long-standing frustrations with police.
While most people in the survey predicted further racial disturbances this summer, a smaller share expected them to hit close to home. The poll found that 53% of whites and 46% of African Americans said it was likely there would be a racial disturbance in the metropolitan area nearest to them.
Full results of the new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll, including public opinion of the 2016 presidential contenders, will be released on Monday evening.

I hope you’re right. I don’t mind them destroying their own neighborhoods, I just don’t want to pay for it.
Just wait til the cops either get off or get a slap on the hands. They’ll burn the rest of it down and have to walk or drive miles to get things no longer available in their city. Look for an exodus of businesses, not a rush in.
No. Any problems are at various local levels around the country.
The police at my local level and at many localities around the country are fine.
So no to the propaganda that wishes to federalize local police.
One doesn’t have to be a brain surgeon to understand why blacks hate cops, For one thing the blacks are responsible for a tremendous number of violent crimes. Hence most black families have family or friends getting busted by the cops. This crap has been going on since the 50’s and continues to get worse, as the blacks are controlling more and more of American cities. We’ve given it up just like Rhodesia and South Africa.
“These riots are all part of the progressive partys plan as Obama has been playing divide and conquer, stir up one group against the other for years.”
One never knows, who would put it past Obama to continue the racial divide and causing more and more riots in our cities, so he would have an excuse to declare martial law and suspend the election keeping him in power? Nothing is surprising with Obama and his band of thugs controlling the country.
I doubt it. There are issues with cost and data storage but cameras cut way down on use of force incidents and complaints so the handful of departments that are using them seem to love them, more than the whiny race baiters for sure.
History does repeat itself. When the riots started in Baltimore in April 1967 they had a Republican Governor. Yes, Spiro Agnew blamed the black leaders of Baltimore for the riots, burning, looting, etc.He immediately called out the National Guard and that was not enough so; he called LBJ. LBJ called out the 197th Infantry BDE from Ft Benning, GA and some units from the XVIII Airborne Corps at FT. Bragg. That crap came to a halt. That is what real leaders do when folks take the damn law into their hands.
Drudge’s pic is of a guy carrying a couple cans of Pringle’s potato chips, maybe a gallon of iced tea and I’m not sure if that’s toilet paper or what.
The other day, Drudge had a guy carrying a six-pack of paper towels. That’s like $3.29!!
Impressive!
