LONDON (AP) — A princess is born.

Prince William's wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, "was safely delivered of a daughter" Saturday morning, less than three hours after checking into St. Mary's Hospital in London, royal officials said.

The newborn's name wasn't immediately announced. When her brother, Prince George, was born in 2013, royal officials waited two days before announcing his name.

Because we’ve always have.

The Prince of Wales came to the U.S. just before the Civil War and it was a huge event with thousands of people coming out to see him. Visits by other royals were also big deals.

So this idea that 1776 turned us into some anti-royals is just a myth. Not surprised that even a royal birth is even a big deal to us today.

Charlotte or Alice (Prince Philip’s mother’s name) appear to be favourites, but I’m reading whispers about ‘Caroline.’

Queen, Queen Caroline

Anyone else remember that rhyme?

“Why as Americans, should we really give a rip about this ?”

Ordinarily I would not.

But knowing that Obamalamadingdong hates all things British makes me want to send them a card and flowers.

Another useless parasite.

Did you forget the 'sarq" or just ignorant re the Royals?

the Royals bring in millions more $$$ to England than they cost.

What's your ratio for breathing?

peace -

“Knock up” in British English, though it’s slang, means something entirely different than the American version.

“If I’m ever in London, I’ll knock you up”. (Means “I’ll visit your place”.)

If you read what tumblindice said, that’s pretty much what I think.

Obama hates the British, so hey...”God Save the Queen!”

We live in America and shouldn’t give a rat’s rear about some pampered snobs.

We bow to no one.

less than three hours

Okay, I don't really hate the Duchess; but, after 22 hours and 11 hours, for giving birth to my two daughters, I can only see this as quite unfair.
