Hannity talking with anonymous cop making breaking news. Cop says Freddy tested positive for drugs, including heroin, thus supporting story by cops and the other criminal in the van that Freddy was trying to cause harm to himself. The drugs would certainly make it easier for him to do it.
Cop also says they were explicitly told not to confront looters and robbers "direct from commander."
I think the cops were messing with him. Driving their van at high speed than stomping on the brakes which caused his body to careen around the van and is what caused the severed spine
How did the cops’ test for steroids go?
I’m trying to figure out why the other guy was picked up, thrown in a paddy waggon, arrested, hand cuffed, taken to the station.... but not charged with anything.
...and your point is?
“That is one reason I couldnt convict any of these officers. I just dont believe any of them had any intent to harm Gray.”
I agree with that, but that part doesn’t matter for the most part. If he weren’t buckled in, it was reckless endangerment that resulted in a death.
There are allegations he was pressured to change his story. I don’t know if it is true or not, but wouldn’t surprise me a bit considering the political context.
That is not an easy position, that is not an easy thing to convict someone of, and that is not an easy sentence to hand out.
I think that the meticulous weighing of evidence is where the purest justice comes from. Jurors have a spectacularly important function in our justice system.
When I am summoned for jury duty, I don’t get upset about it, I don’t look to get out of it, I take it seriously. Although 44 years old now, and I have not been selected to serve on a jury yet.
I receive anonymous “sources” with skepticism. I regard anonymous sources talking to Hannity or the NY Times as probable liars. Local news anonymous sources I reserve judgment on - they could have good reason to want to be anonymous.
Hannity and the Times have about as much credibility as their anonymous sources. Same as it ever was.
They wouldn’t make him do it but the heroin would definitely stop/reduce the pain. I could see no other way a person could purposely Break their own neck other than hanging.
And if he’s having violent convulsions that would explain his body swinging all over the place in the van..a metal van with a drugged out suspect, could explain the injuries..now it doesn’t explain the cops not helping him or securing him in the van, they should have done that for him or gotten him medical assistance when they noticed something wasn’t right but I dont believe they killed him
The autopsy is all being covered up. The coroner changed his cause of death from accidental to homicide, according to reports.
...and your evidence is?
I imagine that there was, but there is no way to really tell which side the pressure would come from if not both sides at the same time.
I feel for that guy, I would not want to be him. Wrong place, wrong time.
I think the cops were messing with him. Driving their van at high speed than stomping on the brakes which caused his body to careen around the van and is what caused the severed spine
” I just do not see the necessary elements for a conviction on that charge.”
I’m sure the van had GPS monitoring that would record acceleration and deceleration plus location.
You may be right. I don’t understand all the legal particulars and I really haven’t had much time to follow the case. I just don’t believe there was any intent to kill the man.
You can bet it isn’t the first time they did it, and the Mayor knew about but didn’t care, until it all blew up in her face.
It was plain ole’ scary. It is very sobering to realize that you hold someone’s life in your hand. In my case, the guy was 40 and had spent more of his life in custody than he had out. He killed a 22 year old drug dealer over $400 in bad cocain. He even showed us how he stabbed the guy with an 8 inch blade that went through the heart. Yet, he tried to explain that he didn’t REALLY mean to kill the young man.... even though he admitted he did chase him down and corner him. The guy just should have given the $400 dollars back.
Educated opinion. I have no evidence.
