Despite a firm denial by Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, a senior law enforcement source charges that she gave an order for police to stand down as riots broke out Monday night, raising more questions about whether some of the violence and looting could have been prevented.
The source, who is involved in the enforcement efforts, confirmed to Fox News there was a direct order from the mayor to her police chief Monday night, effectively tying the hands of officers as they were pelted with rocks and bottles.
Asked directly if the mayor was the one who gave that order, the source said: "You are God damn right it was."
The claim follows criticism of the mayor for, over the weekend, saying they were giving space to those who "wished to destroy."

I hope the people who lost a home and/or business sue her and the city for a boatload of money.
These people pay plenty of money in taxes for police protection, and that protection was withheld.
Then, if she wanted to fire cops for protecting the property and businesses of law abiding citizens, so be it. Let her explain why.
I live near Detroit, and recently spent a month for training in Downtown Baltimore. Baltimore is much worse.
That’s funny. I lived near Detroit all my life and moved to Maryland 6 years ago. My office is in Baltimore.
In the ghetto areas, black separatism is just as strong as Detroit, but I’ve driven through the bad zones a couple times and it seems to be more vibrant than Detroit.
Among the middle class, I don’t perceive much racial animus at all. I did see more in Detroit.
I just accepted a new position today for my company where I’ll work from home. No more commute to Baltimore.
Sorry she is using this as a springboard, she is going to run for the US Senate
The chief gave the order because he would have been fired if he had not...and so on down the line.
“Baltimore is much worse.”
In Heaven’s name, how? I understand Detroit can’t afford to keep all its streetlights on at night. Whole sections of Detroit look like Baltimore AFTER the looting. Businesses have given up on Motown. How much worse can Baltimore be?
Its a very delicate balancing act, because while we tried to make sure that they [peaceful protesters] were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on, we also [INADVERTANTLY (and I would add, stupidly or irresponsibly)] gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well.
Again, don't misunderstand me. I think she failed in her responsibility, and the result was property damage and looting that should not have been allowed to occur. I'm not saying she isn't incompetent, but I do not agree with everyone who says that she openly encouraged property destruction. I think that is a mischaracterization and misinterpretation of what she said.
In any case, calling for her head, or her removal from office, or whatever, is pointless. She is a democrat, and therefore incompetence is not only excused, it is pretty much expected. She is further protected by her skin color, just as Ray Nagin was in New Orleans. He was reelected in 2006, a year after his total failure during Katrina. Look for Rawlings-Blake to be elected to the Senate in 2016. If she runs, I'd be willing to bet that she wins.
Thanks for that photo!

In order to tighten its control of the DNC, the White House wanted to replace her [Alice Travis Germond as DNC secretary] with Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, the mayor of Baltimore, who has no experience in national politics.
