Pederasty or paederasty (US /ˈpɛdəræsti/ or UK /ˈpiːdəræsti/) is a (usually erotic) homosexual relationship between an adult male and a pubescent or adolescent male. The word pederasty derives from Greek (paiderastia) "love of boys", a compound derived from παῖς (pais) "child, boy" and ἐραστής (erastēs) "lover".
Referring to two adults engaging in pederasty is a contradiction in terms.
The Minoans probably originated the practice of pederasty in the area, from which it spread to the Dorian invaders of Crete and from them to the rest of Greece. But I'm unaware of any evidence at all that any of them ever called the relationship a marriage.
Same with the Sodomites. AFAIK, there is zero archeological evidence, mainly because we've never found Sodom. But the other Canaanites did not practice SSM.
Unless you've got some evidence I am unaware of?
The biblical account of the assault on Lot’s household doesn’t even hint of such a thing... and it wouldn’t fit. That wasn’t their fling.
This is a modern ill of a West gone decadent. It is a tale of a shell gone empty, then refilled with an abomination, under the stewardship of a government that is sadly incompetent to handle even “ordinary” marriage.
To have the USSC do the maximally perverse thing here might be a boon in disguise for the churches. They KNOW they now can’t count on Caesar to be even a nominal custodian of marital love and decency. They will look to God instead, Who was waiting all the while for that moment.
There is both some archaeological evidence and a body of historicity to support the one-time existence of Sodom. Google it and you’ll see for yourself.
There’s also the fact that many places in the Bible that were once thought to be legend have been found in reality. Jericho was once thought to be legendary yet it is now accepted to be a real place. Given that Jericho was contemporary with Sodom it stands to reason that Sodom was also a real place. If it wasn’t then the people who were reading the Old Testament would’ve been asking the question, “What’s this phony story about Sodom?”
I’d say there’s a preponderance of evidence that would support Sodom being a real place. In much of the USA these days that’d be more than enough to get an indictment from a jury.
True, but in European languages, pédé or pidor or some other form of the word can mean “[male] homosexual.” Hence the confusion.
Unless you've got some evidence I am unaware of?
A "smoking gun"?
