Hillary Rodham Romney: Keep an eye on Martin O'Malley
The Roll Call ^ | April 27, 2015

Posted on 04/28/2015 9:05:54 AM PDT by Din Maker

For all her recent efforts to prove her progressive credentials to Democratic primary voters and caucus participants, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has not made those on her party’s left entirely comfortable with her. And she never will.

Because of that, a credible alternative would have the capacity to rally progressive Democrats behind a challenge to the former first lady, possibly even creating an entertaining skirmish or two.

But Clinton has as much chance of convincing Democratic progressives she is truly one of them as Mitt Romney had of convincing tea party conservatives and evangelicals he shared their values and views. That is: zero chance.

There is simply too much suspicion of Clinton on the left — and too much history to allow progressives to embrace her completely before they must.

Like Romney, who positioned himself as far right as he could from his 2008 presidential bid through his 2012 nomination, Clinton is emphasizing (and will continue to emphasize) her progressive credentials. But that will only reinforce the cynicism of progressive skeptics who regard her as a free trader with ties to Wall Street.

Much like Romney, Clinton’s greatest asset in her bid for her party's nomination is that she does not have a credible challenger. Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, who apparently is seriously considering a run for the Democratic nomination, has the potential to become at least an interesting alternative to the former first lady and secretary of State, both to reporters and progressive activists.

Attractive and youthful, O’Malley is a former two-term mayor of Baltimore and governor of Maryland. Personable and with a ready smile, he plays the guitar and sings. His liberal credentials are unassailable, his Irish charm obvious.

And, best of all, his achievements in Baltimore are visible 24/7 on CNN. No reason to even fundraiser!

Drudge as well as the MSM have been creaming over O’Malley for months, yet he still polls at 1%. It isn’t happening. The only chance at Hillary going down in the primary is Elizabeth Warren and she says she isn’t running.

What is going on in Baltimore at the moment will likely knock the pins out from under O’Malley. Too many of the aggrieved are blaming the “cracker former Mayor” for an “atmosphere of bigotry”.

Lizzie Warren, you’re next up.

I hear ya’! there’s a few backstories on Marty that have not appeared nor made very public at this time as some pple see him as hopeful potential.

He’s not all that cracked up as it’s made out to be .

People loved him as Mayor of Balto he was a good thing to happen but he didn’t build his legacy on any of prior mayors . There was some issues that were never resolved while he was Mayor and at the same time his wife Kate was appointed to a judgedship as her father a judge retired-so there was something tainted about the politics he rode in on. People accused him of abandonding Balto City when he decided to run for Guv of MD and rightly so- people woke up to the fact he was more politically ambitious than they thought. Even while he was Mayor there were always rumors about him running for Prez. He saw Balto Mayorship as a stepping stone to something more financially lucrative and added personal power. A lot of people in Balto City who backed him felt betrayed when he ran for Guv.

His time in office as Guv was marked by rubber-stamping and implementing every Obama policy under the sun and on God’s green earth. He also had negative fiscal policies (a reflection of what he was trying to copy coming out of DC) in implementation on a statewide level.

He left the financial books of Maryland as Guv totally screwed up.

At some time between his Mayorship and Guv-ship he was involved in a extra-marital with one of the very attractive newsanchors at one of the local stations.

She became pregnant as it’s said by him and endured a serious threat to her life & limb before disappearing to NY.

He ain’t all he’s cracked up to be & if anyone would support him they should have their head examined.

I could not help but notice that his thumb is bent. Could that be a vision of the future?

In other words, how much is he like Bill Clinton?

I think it would be really funny for Hitlery to be done in again by another liberal man.

You know, I was thinking before I read your Post: In ‘08 we were all hoping that Hillary would not get the DemocRAT nomination. And, God help us; look what we got. But, I’m STILL hoping she is not the nominee. I cannot fathom the thought of that wicked witch being the leader of the Free World. She is evil personified.

“The only chance at Hillary going down in the primary is Elizabeth Warren and she says she isn’t running.”

But Warren is diddling HItlary every chance she gets. With “friends” like LIzzie, HItlary doesn’t need any enemies. I just hope Hitlary stays in the contest for the rest of this year so when she leaves, and she’s going to have to eventually, she will leave the RAT Party in tatters.

Hitlery lucked out. Her boy O’Mutley is dead in the water. No one is going to elect the one who did to Baltimore what he would do to the rest of the nation. Not now.
