Moments ago according to the native Twitter feed of Arabiya, Iranian forces have seized a US cargo ship, which has some 34 American sailors, which they have taken to the port of Bandar Abbas.

How about a quid quo pro, the US should seize those 1/2 dozen Iranian ships trying to take munitions to Gaza to help their organization Hamas destroy Israel.

Apparently US officials are saying it is a Maersk line vessel and not one of ours.
Currently I’m cynical enough to not believe it without verification.

Maersk Tigris, ordinary container ship. Last stop was Saudi Arabia. Maersk is a Danish company.

True, but it seems to me that ensuring “free flow of commerce” through the region would require positioning the ships within reach of the presumed threat to that free flow. Just more evidence that the reason given was a total lie.

Maersk Tigris is foreign. All U.S. flag maersk ships are named after cities or states except for the maersk Peary. Also they are crewed by 22-24 people not 34.
