The University of Maryland, Baltimore and numerous downtown businesses closed early Monday, citing concerns about potentially violent activity in the area.
Lexington Market, a city courthouse and businesses including T. Rowe Price and Venable LLP said police warned them of large gatherings and protests downtown.
According to widely circulated flier, a high school "purge" was to take place at 3 p.m., starting at Mondawmin and ending downtown.
Such memes have been known to circulate regularly, but today's has led to bolstered police presence around the city.
The flier includes an image of protesters smashing the windshield of a police car this past weekend after a march spurred by the death of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old man who died earlier this month after being arrested by city police, turned violent and destructive.
A post on the University of Maryland Baltimore's website said that the closure was prompted by a recommendation from city police. The campus will also stop shuttle service.

Ouch.
"How how to be heard out of 'both sides of your mouth...."from the bottom up"
all the reasons for not listening
Good story! LOLOL
..”Id be glad to send a roll of TP if it will get them to shut up”...
It is about what they don’t have....it’s about what ‘you’ have they can’t get.
Ferguson
Baltimore
LA Riots
I'd have to say that if we've learned anything at all from riots in general it is that you absolutely are on your own. I never leave the house unarmed. The police have no duty whatsoever to protect you. That has been adjudicated fully through the supreme Court. Anyone who thinks the police will protect them when things go sideways is delusional. Cops exist for municipal revenue generation and to protect the government. To expect more is to disregard history.
Sick!
In my opinion, that’s true. I know it’s a huge continent, but... I knew several Kenyans pretty well. They were disgusted by the American black behavior and attitudes. And this was before the 97% racist vote for their Messiah and the free reign in Fergadishu and other spots.
Also, I went to graduate school with West Africans (from Mauritania, Senegal, Cote D’Ivoire, Togo), and also other countries like Cameroon and Morocco. They were great friends of mine, cultured, refined, hard-working, and hilarious too. I got to practice my French with them :)
They generally avoided the “black community” located here. They seemed taken aback many times.
The most racist look I ever got was one time when we went to a black “community” event. I was only there as a friend of one of the West Africans. The women at the event — if looks could kill...
I still use the term Fergudisuh whenever I talk to people around here. Hardly ever say Ferguson anymore. LOL
The Mayor’s STAND DOWN order is Baltimore’s Benghazi!!
"Fergudisuh"
It runs in the family...."Baltimorstan"
Interesting is S.African Blacks want 'their criminals' prosecuted in their protests
Sorry for the very late reply here. It looks like I got pulled into a hoax. So sorry.
