Maryland Dem (Elijah Cummings): Baltimore rioters 'mainly from out of town'
The Hill ^ | 4/26/15 | Jesse Byrnes

Posted on 04/26/2015 12:00:06 PM PDT by Libloather

Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) alleged Sunday that many rioters in Baltimore the previous night were from "out of town," noting that he was amid crowds in the area.

A protest over the death of Freddie Gray, a black 25-year-old, in police custody turned violent as some went on a rampage as darkness fell, as they were seen smashing windows and throwing objects at police.

"I've gotta give it to the citizens of Baltimore. I was there all day, and it was very peaceful all day," Cummings said on CBS's "Face the Nation."

"At the end, there were a few people that said, 'We're gonna turn this city down, we're gonna close it down.' And the next thing you know we had a few people – mainly from out of town – to come and to start beating up on police cars and throwing all kinds of projectiles," Cummings alleged.

At least a dozen people were arrested, according to The Associated Press. Police also kept Baltimore Orioles fans inside the ballpark as they cleared an area outside, which Cummings called a "smart idea."

"This whole police community relations situation, Bob, is the civil rights cause for this generation, no doubt about it," Cummings told host Bob Schieffer on Sunday.

Cummings noted that the Maryland delegation in Congress had asked for the Department of Justice to conduct a civil rights investigation into the death of Gray.

"We've got to take this department apart and try to figure out what is wrong and what is right," he said, referring to local police.

Being a thinking person, if the statement is undeniably true, why didn’t the LOCALS help to quell the outsiders?

I seem to remember from the ‘good old days’, if Sailors and Marines were in a ‘fight’ and Soldiers or Airmen stepped in, the Soldier and/or Airman would be ‘fighting’ the Sailor and Marine and if civilians tried to break it up, they had their hands full.

Same as if people from a Ship and another steps in etc....

Every Dem/lib is going to insist that “outside agitators”; they know they can never admit their cities are zoos.

Most people along the frontiers of the welfare reservations know better; it is those visiting that are in the greatest danger (because they may be naive)...

No doubt Lisa Fithian is in town with a big bag of Soros cash.

Hardly a single major violent protest in the last 30 years doesn’t have her somewhere in the shadows.

Yup, same people who were also at Ferguson. Don’t think for a second this is all a local show by itself.

What I “gleaned” from your comment is that evidently you think it’s o.k. to fatally injure a “fleeing suspect” who isn’t a physical threat to you as a cop.

You "gleaned" wrong.

And I gleaned from your post is that you think it's not okay to tackle fleeing suspects.

As to what “happened,” we will probably never know and the cops involve will get to do it again. I guess you need to hope you are not in their line of sight.

So we may never know what happened but you still think its the cops fault. "I can't believe you just posted that".

A similar phrase was used back in the 1960’s when rioters would show up in town, and the police explanation was always that “this was the work of outside agitators.”

Baltimore is not all that different from Ferguson, it is just larger. Same crowd shows up there, and few if any of them are locals.

The out of towners just stir things up. I’m sure Baltimordor has plenty of unhinged thug muscle amongst its own population.

So you’re part of “Needless Riots Are Us!” This didn’t need to happen. I only hope for once, we get to know the ‘’real truth!”

Ah what?

I really don't know where you come up with some of the things that you say.

What did Cummings say when those "people from out of town" were doing the same in Ferguson, MO?

I honestly don't know. But if he was cheering them on, he has no right to complain now.

I wrote this on another thread:
*********************************

The problem is that some people are blaming “outsiders” for causing this violence, and that misses the mark, because a large proportion of those peaceful protestors are making common cause with the racial agitators who enable and promote the violence.

I don’t know anything about people being bussed in to cause the violence, it could be true for all I know. But I also know that the majority of people causing violence, damaging cars, throwing object through windows and so on, especially the kids like the ones who attacked and robbed the stupid Russian news people, are not people bussed in.

Do I think these professional agitators exist? Sure, and they encompass all racial representations. But I don’t think they are the root of the problem.

I think anyone who blames it all on professional agitators is being a “useful idiot”.
*********************************

As you can see, I place the blame and responsibility squarely on the people doing the damage, and the vast majority of them are local, in my opinion.

With that said, the "outside agitators" are indeed part of the problem, especially when they hold office or have political power. But the basic problem is the position that the liberal welfare state has put black citizens in, and the "culture" that has developed from being in that position. All of it bad, unwed mothers, fathers not present or wanted, kids dropping out of school, etc.

There are a lot of decent black people caught up in this, who raise families, work hard, pay taxes, get their kids through school, etc. All you have to do is watch just a few of the videos and you will see those people speak out, but if they do, they can end up in the bull's-eye themselves because they are acting "too white".

So, they get lumped in with the hoodlums because they didn't stand up and speak out, and that creates hate in their hearts. It is a bad situation all around.

After 8 innings the Os are leading the Sox 18-4. Hope this doesn’t start a new tradition of rioting for luck.

FWIW, in Cleveland it was mostly outside agitators. The rioting never really took hold. People tend to want more community policing in the city, not more conflict with the police.

Welcome to Ferguson II. That’s what happened in Missouri, there were lots of outside agitators to get the riots and looting started. Many were Black Muslims.
Many are Muslim. However almost all of them are members of socialist and or communist groups calling for revolution in America. They instill violence as they want to start a revolution. Read the printed and better made signs they carry. The media likes to crop them out a lot, but they are there. The organizations have their names and websites at the bottom.

He is likely correct; likely the Occupy Movement

Elijah Cummings is rarely correct, but in this case I agree with you and with him. These rioters are probably the same rioters as in Ferguson. They get their EBT cards reloaded regularly, since they are on welfare, and that leaves them with enough time to travel with the Riot of the Month Club.

Muslims are involved because they want to turn the inner-cities into Shariah Law No-Go Zones, as they are doing in Europe.
