The Senate narrowly confirmed Loretta Lynch as the next attorney general today, 166 days after she was first nominated for the post.
The Senate approved Lynchs nomination with a vote of 56 to 43.
Stay tuned for updates.
UPDATE: The following Senate Republicans voted 'aye' (via TPM):
In an unexpected turn, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) voted with the Democratic caucus to confirm Lynch after slow-walking her nomination.
The other Republicans who voted for Lynch were Sens. Orrin Hatch (UT), Lindsey Graham (SC), Jeff Flake (AZ), Thad Cochran (MS), Susan Collins (ME), Mark Kirk (IL), Kelly Ayotte (NH), Ron Johnson (WI) and Rob Portman (OH).

UPDATE: Before the vote, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) spoke against Ms. Lynch's confirmation, listing all the reasons why he believes she should not succeed Eric Holder as Attorney General. See the clip below.
What do they mean unexpected? Everyone with 2 brain cells to rub together knew darned well that McConnell would do this.

Just the magnificent address you’d expect from Cruz.
Don’t look for any of this C-SPAN video on any of the networks tonight, including FOX.
This is persuasive evidence Cruz is a force who can turn this rogue government around. Naturally he blasts Holder and Lynch. What’s more important, he sticks it to his traitorous repbublican colleagues who are selling this country down the river.
Lead on Ted. We’ll follow you through the bowels of hell!
Solidly supported by the a-hole caucus, with Thad Cochran chiming in for the senile caucus.
He felt the need to give an address, but wasn’t compelled to vote?
“I’m against it even though I couldn’t be arsed to show up for the vote”
These ten voted against enforcing the US Constitution by approving a top law enforcement candidate who will not abide by it.
Remember their Names and Keep Your Eyes Upon them.
The funniest part, Lynch was held up because the Democrats wouldn’t vote for cloture, and then vote against the human trafficking bill. And yet Republicans, who have the majority, voted for cloture on the nomination, and then allowed the designated rinos, and Democrats have their way.
Pay attention. Cruz fought valiantly, moreso than any other senator against Lynch’s appointmnent. The writing was on the wall after the cloture vote. To hang around was academic.
So Cruz left, primarily to protest his RINO colleaques sorry performance. He did not want to be a part of such a miserable foregone conclusion.
Again, pay attention!
He voted in the only vote that mattered...
Obviously your either ignorant of the process or a troll for the establishment.
LL will return the favor by enforcing the law unequally, favoring people who look like her.
I know that Cruz has a lot of supporters, but can someone tell me what his accomplishments are? Not a smart-aleck question, what has he done, besides get elected as a Republican from Texas (is that an accomplishment?).
What have any of his opponents accomplished? I understand your question, but let’s face it, nobody among the candidates has a particularly strong track record.
“Obviously your either ignorant of the process or a troll for the establishment.”
Or, perhaps you are a star struck apologist, or you have your TC monogramed kneepads on?
Things aren’t looking good.
Cochran, in fact, is a criminal who conspired with the Dems to buy votes in Mississippi.
The GOP talk tough then cave show continues.
Very sad to have another lawless Attorney General.
