Mike Huckabee has been staffing up for his likely presidential campaign, before an expected announcement in Hope, Arkansas, on May 5.
Sources familiar with the internal planning tell POLITICO that the Republican has decided on senior staff and their roles for a potential 2016 campaign.
This inner-circle includes three alumni of the former Arkansas governors 2008 presidential campaign, during which he won the Iowa caucuses and carried seven other states. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Huckabees daughter, would be campaign manager. Chip Saltsman, who was manager last time, returns as a senior adviser. Bob Wickers will stay in his role as pollster and media consultant.
Arkansas Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin, the GOP operative and former congressman, will work as a senior political adviser on the potential campaign.
Jim Terry, who cut his teeth in California politics and has worked for the National Republican Congressional Committee, will be national political director.
Huckabee gave up his Fox News program in January and recently discontinued his regular radio commentaries. Hes gotten far less media attention than other candidates, but he continues to appear near the top of the pack in national polls. In 2012, he flirted with running but ultimately announced, on his Fox show in the spring of 2011, that he would not go through with it.
Also helping the Huckabee 2016 effort in communications roles are Alice Stewart and Hogan Gidley, both of whom worked on the 2008 Huckabee campaign and then for former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum in 2012.

Then shame on voters who would give their vote to MH vs. Ted Cruz! Should be a no-brainer not to, but then there’s a reason the Repugnant Party and its members are called “stupid.”
By the looks of him lately, he found them!
I once thought he was at least sincere-sincerely wrong, but just an amiable dope. Obviously, I was wrong— he is a low class slime ball who needs to be driven out of the public arena.
this country is, sadly, all about celebrity now. that’s why Obama won. Huckabee is the definition of wet noodle. why does he keep doing this.
Jim and Tammy Baker?
More like a Judas Goat.
What's the matter Susan?
Tell my brothers to quit blocking the sun. I'm freezing!
Huckabee won 8 primaries in 2008 and 2nd in 15 others but how he’ll show in
today’s group is probably not as good.
2008 wins
Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, West Virginia (caucus)
Tennessee, Kansas, Louisiana)
That is just the first tier candidates I assume? ;-)
Plenty of folks. And the votes will come from Cruz. Many Christians are very gullible and will decide between Cruz and Huckabee but ultimately will vote for Huckabee because of familiarity and not seeing behind his thin veneer.
Huskter will bow out before Cruz because of money. We have to keep Cruz flush with cash.
This must be about marketing himself and maintaining name identification.
Sadly, Huck is a mischief maker.
He will be conservative just long enough to take votes from conservatives. A huckster for the center, he is leveraging for his future, doing favors for Jeb to secure it.
Hopefully, he will have lost enough of his original support to go away sooner.
I have nothing nice to say about Huckabuck. Anything I do say would have to be censored so badly that there would only be punctuation left.
“Follow the Money ...”
“Follow the Money ...”
“He has Zero chance.”
Of course. He’s just a spoiler candidate, pushed by the RINOs, to divide support from Cruz.
Remember, candidates can pay themselves and their friends and relatives handsome salaries to make fake runs for president. I’m sure the Rove-Bush machine will make it worth his trouble, and no Bible huckster lacks for suckers to send him money to boot.
