Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain (R-Ariz.) is mocking Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) for claiming he is pressing for hearings on allowing U.S. troops to carry private firearms on military installations.
You know, I was fascinated to hear that because I havent heard a thing about it from him. Nor has my staff heard from his staff. Where did that come from? I have not a clue, McCain told reporters on Monday. Id be glad to discuss the issue and see if we need a hearing, but it came as a complete surprise to me that he had been pressing me."
Maybe it was through some medium that Im not familiar with. Maybe bouncing it off the ozone layer, for all I know, McCain joked. Theres a lot of holes in the ozone layer, so maybe it wasnt the ozone layer that he bounced it off of. Maybe it was through hand telegraph, maybe sign language, who knows?
Cruz, a member of the Armed Services panel and a 2016 presidential candidate, made the comment on Sunday while speaking at a campaign event in New Hampshire, according to Politico.
I am very concerned about that policy, Cruz said. I think its very important to have a public discussion about why were denying our soldiers the ability to exercise their Second Amendment rights.
In recent years, GOP lawmakers, including fellow Texan Rep. Louie Gohmert, have pushed for the Defense Department to ease its ban on private firearms, citing mass shootings, such as the two that have occurred at Fort Hood. They contend such tragedies could have been avoided had soldiers been allowed to be armed.
Last week Gohmert urged the House Armed Services Committee to include a provision in its version of the annual defense policy bill to lift the ban.
A laughing McCain, who earlier on Monday chided Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.), another Republican presidential contender, over his understanding of foreign policy, said reporters should follow up with Cruz on how he sought hearings on the controversial issue.
Ask him how he communicated with me because Id be very interested. Who knows what Im missing? he said.
F U McCain!
I absolutely detest John McCain. What a despicable man he is.
McCain should have already retired, he continues to embarrass himself-—badly.
Or maybe, just maybe the old coot doesn’t listen?
I would settle for a simple senility test...
McCain sounded more like Harry Reid than a Republican with his comments. lt will be interesting to see if Cruz has a comeback for him, because McCain was way out of bounds going off the way he did.
He obviously has it out for Senator Cruz.
Nope.
I was only there a week, but I really liked it.
This asshat is why Obama won. GOP idiots.
McCain is just doing his part as an establishment attack dog to help take out a conservative candidate.
McCain is has a talent for making smart-ass comments because he is such an obnoxious ass. And no, I did not undergo torture at the Hanoi Hilton.
Cruz doesn’t answer to you, McStain. He doesn’t need your approval to say or do anything.
So liberal pretender and military “hero” Juan McLame, speaks: “I, I, I’ve, I, I, I’m and what about me?”
Not sure I trust the source on this one.
Actually, it seems as though it is McCain who has a screw loose.
Okay, did some quick googling. McCain is probably responding to this Politico story:
http://www.politico.com/story/2015/04/ted-cruz-2016-second-amendment-gun-rights-117133.html
It reports what Cruz said with a partial quote and a paraphrase.
The paraphrased part is where Cruz reportedly claimed to be pressing McCain, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he actually said he was pressing the committee, which of course has members other than John McCain, as glorious as he is.
Prove McCain was tortured

Well, that goes for all Americans.
Call me "anti-science", but I am really concerned about the drugs they're pushing on these guys. The crap military docs are feeding them antidepressants PLUS some of the antimalarial drugs they give them before they go overseas have horrible side effects. We have a serious problem with them flipping out and doing violent things to themselves and loved ones. The easy out is to say, "PTSD".
Juan shut the h*ll up! I’m so sick and tired of this viejo!
The arrogant McCain is off his rocker. He is again siding with the enemy.
