"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan

"A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." - Thomas Paine 1792

"It does not take a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." - Samuel Adams

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

I was stationed in Turkey in the late 80’s. This is a big deal to them because Ataturk was in power then and accusing their George Washington of genocide is fighting words.

The Senate considered a resolution rebuking Turkey for this while I was there. I remember reading the article on page 11 of the NYT. It was front page news there for weeks, and we were warned we’d have 24 hours to evacuate our facility if passed.

Mind you, this was a non-binding resolution that had no force of law at all.

Now keep in mind that 25 years have passed, and Turkey is much less secular a government, and yet, our base in Incirlik is just as important as ever. Is it worth this fight to address a 110 year old wrong? To me it’s like asking for slave reparations. What does that have to do with anybody alive today?

The irony of course is that Ataturk fought for the secularization and modernization of Turkey and it is the fact that they are less so today that will make them overreact to a perceived slight of the man.

Who knew you could slowly assemble a coalition of voters by just doing the right thing?

“Prior to his election to the oval office, Obama was clear and unequivocal...”

In other expect him to do the oposite. It was prior to his election when he says almost anything in order to get elected.

It’s a pretty shrewd move on his part. Just the way I like it. No risk maneuvers with marginal payoffs add up.

Never preface a decision about doing the right thing, ESPECIALLY, when it comes to murder by asking if it is worth the fight!

Always do the right thing, ALWAYS!

The only real difference between the Armenian Genocide and the Holocaust was the state of technology....the Germans were just far more efficient at mass murder.

You would spare Germany hurt feelings by openly discussing what they did?

.
Cruz has set himself apart from the crud that has ruled this country in recent years.

That may be why he has risen to the top of the flock for 2016.
