In one breath Jeb Bush says, “I think that presidents have the right to pick their team,” and in the next he says, “The longer it takes to confirm her, the longer Eric Holder stays as Attorney General,” an Attorney General who was confirmed partly as a result of Republicans thinking that the president has the right to pick his team.

But Jeb Bush has not a breath to spare for the Constitution which empowers and requires the United States Senate to yield its consent to the president's appointees. When the plain language of the Constitution is ignored in favor of mindless slogans such as a president has a right to his team, mindless results inevitably follow.

Thus, Jeb Bush wants to repeat a mistake to cure a mistake.

How much better simply to follow the Constitution and do one's duty.

You are correct but it seems that our politicians are using some sort of chaos theory of government to shield themselves. I remember William Buckley wrote about a time when he was in the CIA. He was in on a meeting with the CIA director and others, and the Director wanted gin up a story for the press to explain why a particular operative could not make a scheduled appearance because he was ill. One young guy suggested that why not just tell the truth. Buckley wrote about the fatherly, ironic smile the Director bestowed on the naive officer. The Director did not want anything to do with putting out something that was true because it would give enemies a baseline in order to evaluate anything else.
