Indiana Gov. Mike Pence spent the week telling reporters, "I think the difficult time that Indiana just passed through two weeks ago is behind us."
But a new poll released Thursday suggests the governor could have a tough time recovering from the controversy surrounding Indiana's "religious freedom" law.
The poll, from Howey Politics and conducted by a Republican-affiliated research firm, said that 46 percent of voters disapprove of Pence while 45 percent approve of him.
That approval rating is double digits below Pence's performance in other recent polls in the state. A January survey from Public Opinion Strategies conducted for Americans for Prosperity put Pence's approval at 66 percent, and a poll from February for the Indiana Association of Realtors had Pence at 62 percent.
The whole idea of the Law, of course, was to allow Hoosiers to make business decisions based upon their values, their lights, rather than those of some bureaucrat. That means the right to discriminate--to make one's own choices, based upon one's own lights, not some bureaucrat's agenda.
Yes he caved; but that he was unable to even appear to comprehend the actual dynamics of the anticipated issue, in the obvious function of the original Law, also tends to define his analytic capacity! We have got to find political spokesmen who both stand for what is right, and who know how to defend & define what is right! We cannot preserve our free heritage with those who fail in either regard. The hate driven bullies on the Left will ruthlessly exploit weakness in either regard.
NO, he is plunging after effectively REPEALING it. He’s a gutless swine
Pence lost my respect and support by his immediate surrender to the gaystapo. He didn’t even TRY to fight.
Trying to please everyone only winds up pissing everybody off in the end....choose a side and stick with it.
His numbers collapsed after is spine collapsed.
Now he is held in contempt by both sides.
Pence allowed War Room Punk, George Steponallofus to call the shots.
BINGO!
Pence had a chance here to catapult himself into the presidency, and he blew it by caving to the sodomites.
I could support him if he resigns first.
I do wonder if it was worth all this to him, just to hang on to three basketball games.
Exactly right.
Pence might get some positive points if they ever take a poll from members of the Association of Slimy Scoundrels.
