What would be a good plan to help someone being attacked?
TNoldman

Posted on 04/14/2015 5:29:39 PM PDT by TNoldman

May question is raised after I saw News Reports of a girl being raped by 4 guys while others on the beach watched.

I am 80 and generally carry a 1911 concealed. What if I come on a similar situation? I would call 911... then what?

Try to get others involved to stop the attack? Shooting an attacker might be excessive.. also I may be in the midst of a mob.

I would like to see some discussion.

I’m older....1970s....it was ribald but no public gang rapes cheered on by 100s

The problem is blacks are now in the henhouse

They are there for one thing.....care to guess what it is?

It sure ain’t a tan.

The answer depends on whether I have the dogs with me or not.

In Arizona:

B. There is no duty to retreat before threatening or using physical force or deadly physical force justified by subsection A of this section. C. A person is presumed to be acting reasonably for the purposes of this section if the person is acting to prevent what the person reasonably believes is the imminent or actual commission of any of the offenses listed in subsection A of this section. D. This section includes the use or threatened use of physical force or deadly physical force in a person's home, residence, place of business, land the person owns or leases, conveyance of any kind, or any other place in this state where a person has a right to be.

“There’s an old saying about such old people - don’t try to fight them, they’ll just kill you.”

A few years ago, I was working far from home, staying in a dodgy area.

At the equally dodgy “Night Spot” we went to, I made it clear during a rather boisterous conversation that I was 48, and couldn’t go 10 rounds with the punks anymore, so I’d have to end it in ONE, explaining that it likely meant serious bodily injury or death.

No one bothered me the during all of the weeks I was there....

Interesting question.

The perps were black. If you were to interfere you risk the entire mob of surrounding blacks attacking and killing you.

If you do manage to defend yourself or another you will be prosecuted for a hate crime and the Obama DOJ will destroy your life, if you are not outright arrested. The aspiring rappers are always innocent.

Sadly, the reality is, blacks are becoming immune from crime.

Yep.

Or as Sean Connery says in the Untouchables, "Enough of this running sh*t."

You speak as though you are an expert.

How about you describe some of the unarmed and armed confrontations you have been in.

Yep-I remember when spring break “pranks” were things like jumping fully-clothed into the pool at a party. Now it’s public fornication, deliberately cr*pping in the yards of the locals, etc. Guess what changed? And we have a biker convention here locally every year-no problems with the public. Black Spring Break-supposed “college kids” of over 40 years old-using the main highways as parking lots, fornicating on the tops of the cars in public, trashing hotel rooms, walking out of restaurants en masse without paying the bill, walking into convenience stores en masse and leaving them as if a plague of locusts hit (without paying, goes without saying)-terrorising shoppers at the mall. I think they got rained out this year, from what I’ve heard, although things haven’t been as bad in recent years anyway thanks to prompt pro-active policing, such as strict enforcement of towing cars. I just stopped leaving the house during BSP so I don’t worry about it anymore. I think it’s pretty much fizzled out here anyway, they came looking for confrontations and didn’t get them, so some of the incentive was removed.

Warning shots are a bad idea for many reasons and are illegal in some states. In court they can be used to claim you weren’t really in any danger.

Unless you are prepared to die call 911 and walk away. Not your fight. The best gunfight is the one you never have. I speak from both side of that equation.

Wow, that is an amazing story! How old was he when it happened, and when he got out of prison? Did he keep a felony?

The bullet coming out of an 80 year old’s pistol is moving just as fast as the bullet coming out of a 25 year old’s pistol. That is why Sam Colt’s invention was called the equalizer. I will stop any forcible rape in progress the fastest way that I can, be it a piece of rebar, a 2X4, or a 9mm JHP. Period. Then I will call 911.

I’ve known 80 year olds who never stopped working, even after “retirement,” and who are as hard as flint and can outwork most 20 year old slackers.

Lot of discussion here BUT.. I’m a “me and mine” sort of guy. Call the cops. You do not know the whole story and it is not worth putting your life on the line. But I guess I’m the only one here with that opinion.

Do you have a wife? Daughters? Mother? You would protect them only, not just some mere woman being raped by a vicious mob?

“The problem for you is, you don’t really know it’s rape. There are some sick people in the world, it could be some pervs living out their fantasy. At least that’s the advice my CCW teacher gave us.”

Four ferals taking turns on an unconscious woman? It’s rape.

Regardless of what you think now, you did the right thing. You intervened and that girl was saved. God bless you and we need more like you.

Situational awareness is everything. If greatly outnumbered and even though the crime is vile but not likely to cause severe harm or death, a cell phone call to cops might be the way to go - then you could point out the perps w/o instigating a potentially bad situation.

Too many are too eager to put their guns into play and one might think they have some hidden desire to collect a "trophy" or two to prove their manhood.

Then, consider your abilities, even armed, against the number/size of the antagonists - are you willing to be killed to stop someone else from being badly damaged or killed? What is the likelihood of a successful action?

Always need as much situational awareness as possible and then be able to make rational decisions based on that awareness of the area and of yourself. There is no single answer to any situation. When I don my weapon (part of getting dressed in the morning) I also don the attitude that I will respect the responsibility by not being a cowboy and getting into arguments/altercations if there is any way to avoid it. I don't ascribe to the "he's a vicious ass-hat and needs to die" blanket that some seem to espouse. It is my first responsibility to do everything I can to keep from having to draw/fire my weapon.
