FWIW, the Territories of Wyoming, Colorado and Utah allowed all land owners to vote, irrespective of gender, not long after they became Territories. Idaho and Montana joined them a little later.

The underlying thought process was that those who paid the taxes (which were mostly based on property) had a stake in running the government.

Sounds like the Rocky Mountains weren’t so bad back in the day, at least in terms of who got to vote.
