Officers wanted to question them about the alleged assault of a Walmart employee who was going into the store bathroom. The police were accompanied by another Walmart employee.

Several times on the video the group appears to surrender, but starts fighting again. The melee goes for several minutes until backup officers arrive and make arrests.
Police charged four members of the family with assaulting an officer and resisting arrest. Two minors were also taken into custody and are being held at a juvenile detention facility.

Haven’t watched the video but this sounds more like Keystone Cops movie than anything else.
KTLA doesn't report who is suspected of pulling the trigger,
It looks to me like the cop standing over the pile fired the shot that hit the other cop.
Agreed.
Even God can’t fix stupid. Either that or He chooses not to. And some people like being stupid.
I don’t know about walking with God, but this one is no more.
Yeah I am thinking so. Just heard about shootings a couple of days ago. What gives with some people? There have been stabbings, shootings, fights over the last few weeks. Yet today everyone is good decent and friendly.
Some are dings, but many are just down and outs. Some are very angry. I think this family was living out of that older Suburban in the video. Probably a damn hard life. Pretty sad scene actually. I understand they learned tactics to fight and roll on the ground if tased to break free of the wire leads. And that seems what the vid depicts. Who knows if true.
I must say, this family could take the hit and keep coming.
Considering everything, it appears the LP guy was a good friend to have at the time for the officers. They're lucky more of their family members didn't get shot. Cops showed lots of restraint here.
I think the cops probably understood right off this was an old school cult like family. They knew they weren't dealing some inner city folk. They could be religious fanatics, don't know, but they sure went down together. No one ran off like what usually happens.
Being a family and all, I saw this as an ugly and sad scene. I'm trying to imagine a scene circa 1957 where the family piles into the station wagon to go going shopping...They stop at a Sears store and something like this happens.
The version up thread seems much clearer btw. Better detail of the ugly sad action.
“Somehow, it just doesn’t sound like they belong to a mainstream Christian denomination.”
.........................
They were presenting themselves as Christian to gain sympathy and make money.
“.......if a police officer asks to talk to you, the reasonable thing to do is cooperate and talk”.......
Guess they haven’t figured that out in Idaho yet.
