I’m curious to know why they would bother to press for the death penalty, when it was abolished in Massachusetts in 1984?

I don’t know ... Federal charges? I saw a headline about a possible death penalty but didn’t read the article.

Probably death on a federal terrorism charge. Like Tom McVeigh the atheist terrorist got.

I believe that this is a Federal case and the Federal government still has the death penalty (Tim McVeigh).

The trial was moved out of the state court and into the Federal court so the death penalty could be a possibility.

Considering that he was guilty on all 30 counts, his chances of getting live over death penalty is nil. The jurors who determined his guilt or innocence on the 30 counts will also determine the sentence.

It’s a federal case not an MA case

If the Feds really wanted the death penalty, they would have tried him in Texas. We hapless taxpayers will be paying for his cushy life in Federal prison to the tune of millions of tax dollars during his long, worthless life.

Not true. We voted in 88 to keep it.
