Consumers in Australia flocked to Apple Inc's (AAPL.O) store in Sydney on Friday to get the world's first up-close look at the tech giant's smartwatch, which the company expects will be its next runaway hit.
The Apple Watch, CEO Tim Cook's first new major product, was available for pre-order online and to try out in stores - but not take home.
On April 24, consumers will be able to buy it online or by reservation at retail locations including high-end fashion boutiques in Paris, London and Tokyo, part of Apple's strategy of positioning the wearable computer as a must-have accessory.

Were you typing that response on an iProduct?
Uh, no, I didn't. More of your reading comprehension problem, I see.
So you didn't go to bed after all?
I didn't see anything in the article to support the claim of "Over 1,000 Apple Watch apps are already waiting for you", and checking the app store itself certainly doesn't support it. So why was it made, and why would you defend it?
There's maybe 50 apps in the store, and according the article there's been about a thousand apps submitted for approval. As you've already noted the hardware isn't even available yet so those apps are still untested and it's likely the majority of them aren't going to be approved.
Somebody makes the claim that "Over 1,000 Apple Watch apps are already waiting for you" which by any objective measure isn't true, but you'll attack anybody who disagrees with it as a "Troll".
I stomped my iPad to bits last week. I was going to buy a gay Apple watch but the lines were too long and they looked like a NAMBLA convention
My mobile device is a large screen Note by Samsung
Bread and circuses for the masses!
... and you can't plug another VCR into it, because the copy protection kicks in.
Ah, the noted serial liar pipes in with his oft repeated prevarication about smashing his iPad which is very strange because he's always claimed he's never owned ANY Apple products! How much money did you lose shorting non-existent Apple debentures five years ago, Dennis?
We are claiming it and defending it, you idiot, because it is not just "someone", some nobody, who said that, it was Tim Cook, CEO of Apple. I heard him say it. That was not just a headline on the TechRadar's article, it was a direct quote from the CEO of Apple! It has been reported and a video of him saying it was shown on news reports. . . But that's evidence, a fact, which you know nothing low-information anti-Apple hate Brigade trolls don't care about.
Then Tim Cook appears to be a liar, because I went to the watch app store and counted the apps. There were less than 50 apps "already waiting".
Where did you find the "watch app store"? I'm not seeing it in iTunes or on the Web.
That’s not the app store. Do you see a download button? That’s a page highlighting a few apps.
It’s like saying “Walmart lies about its selection. It only has a couple dozen products!” because you looked at a newspaper ad.
Then where is the app store? If you go to the main Store page, then select the Watch page, the App Store Apps link on there takes you to the same page I linked to.
The app store has not launched because the watch has not shipped.
If the app store hasn't launched, then how is it you know what's in it? You're telling me this is only an ad, and the real app store actually does have over a thousand apps "already waiting", but there is no app store. WTF?
Imagine that you see an ad for a store that is about to open. There are fewer than 50 items in the ad. You do not know everything that is on the shelves. You would not assume that the items in the ad are the only items in the store unless you are being deliberately dense.
I don’t know what apps are in the app store for the watch. Neither do you. You are calling Tim Cook a liar because he said something that you do not know to be false. I am not making claims based on information I don’t have.
Where did you get the information that this is an ad, and not a link to the actual store site?
