Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh has denied issuing a fatwa that states it is permissible for a starving man to save himself by eating the flesh of a woman.
In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency on Thursday, Al-Asheikh said the religious edict was false and created by Islams enemies to slander him and keep the community busy squabbling over irrelevant issues instead of standing united behind the rightly guided rulers.
The fatwa attributed to us is wrong. It is nothing but lies ... It has been circulated to distort the image of Islam, which has elevated and granted a dignified status to men and women without exceptions ...
He quoted a verse from the Holy Quran to support his argument: Oh you who believe, if an unrighteous man brings you news, look carefully into it, lest you harm a people out of ignorance, and then regret it.
The sheikh said Muslims must stay united against their common enemy and ignore attempts aimed at undermining their commitment to protect themselves and their countries.
squirrel.
Would a fatwa about the FLOTUS school lunch program be called a thinwa?
Did a Leading Saudi Cleric Permit Men to Eat Their Wives?
Uh.....
He looks like he thinks he’s important and that we should care what he thinks.
He looks like an Eric Idle character.
Well, it’s nice to get that cleared up. Can a feller still beat the hell out of them for learning to read?
He has visual problems. Do you eat the left side or the right side?
Why... why... it’s a blood libel! /S
Also, tell him I’m sick of fatwas. I’d like a thinwa from time to time.
another recent fatwa allowed them to use toilet paper....oh goodie!
“...another recent fatwa allowed them to use toilet paper....oh goodie!”
And here I was thinking they’d made a clean sweep with that one, and we wouldn’t be getting anymore fatwas for a long time.
Well, it’s been officially denied.
The fatwa was run on all the usual arab sites, from what I read, those sites thought it was real.
Was the Donner Party on Jihad?
Transliteration from Arabic is very difficult and there actually is no standard. However, in Maine everyone knows what a faht is and how it is spelled. Applying the same logic here seemed appropriate.
New England Wisdom:
Hey. That’s the wrong beardo. The guy to whom it was attributed looked different and had a different impossible-to-remember name.
