I am convinced (but don’t ask me for the evidence), that the government was buying Volts and parking them on some remote piece of federal land in New Mexico or Utah. If so, we (the taxpayers) bailed out the company, subsidized the production of the car, and bought them at full sticker price - to go directly to the scrap yard. This is what happens when a government takes over a company, and want to show you that it knows what it is doing.

Don’t know one way or the other on that but for 1 1/2 years or so GM were leasing more Volts than they were selling, they had a deal that was hard to refuse. Now those leased cars are on the used car market.
