Unpaid traffic fines and mushrooming fees have left 4.2 million Californians with suspended driver’s licenses — more than one-sixth of the licenses issued statewide — with poor people the hardest-hit, according to a newly published study that criticizes policies that take drivers off the road because of debts they can’t pay.

“You might want to read the article”

What?!?!?

We’re expected to read the articles? This is going to take a bigger commitment than I thought.

Sorry, I forget where we were.

"Can’t afford their driver’s license? How do they pay for the car, repairs, tires, gasoline, and insurance?"

Not much after losing their licenses. Car manufacturers, dealers, auto repair shops, tire stores, gas stations and insurance companies will charge remaining customers more in order to maintain their flows of revenues.

"If you have no dough for your car, take the bus."

It appears that public transportation will increase.

I've often thought, lately, that's what discussions here will come to. Then each time, I forgot to enter that in a comment.

The cost of getting a ticket has more than skyrocketed. A red-light camera ticket is $500!!! That’s rent for some people. It’s outrageous what they’re charging for tickets. A friend got a ticket for riding his bicycle on the sidewalk—$270!!! There’s no excuse for these outrageous fines.

Prince John would be so happy in California ruling over the serfs.

I know what you mean. My son in law got a ticket, couldn’t pay it, so his license is suspended, then the one time he takes a chance driving he gets pulled over and now it will be a minimum of $700 to get his license back. He and my daughter have been in a custody battle with his deadbeat ex and that has drained them financially (and me too).
Obama’s rotten economy is crushing people of all ages, just like obama’s minions planned.

Oh, and BTW, after working at the same company for 3 3 years I got laid off at a defense contractor that once employed 1250. Now they’re down to about 200. I got laid off twice more that same year. Fortunately one of the companies that laid me off got some new Foreign country contract and called me back. But another layoff is looming.
Hang in there.

They don’t even arrest illegals anymore. They pull them over if they do something wrong but just let them go because of to much paperwork and no money to collect. They just pull over the soccer Moms and Dad’s for their cash.
