I’d be going after the city first. They have deeper pockets.
North Charleston is going to need an extra-long check for all the zeros in that settlement. And they should.
That did not take long.
They should split the money with the guy that shot the video.
Everything was routine for days, it was all just another cop shooting being wrapped up and put away..........and then someone came forward with the video of what really happened, after reading what was being reported by the police.
It all starts with cops sitting at the bottom of hills trying to collar Joe worker cause they’re to lazy to look for the meth lab down the block.
The only value the poor soul ever had to society; i.e. a pay off to the parents. (It has been reported that he had 10 prior arrests and had a warrant out on him at the time of the shooting.)
Who is getting away with anything? Last I heard the guy was fired and charged with murder.
I hope this incident serves as a productive learning experience for police nationwide. I also commend the police chief and mayor for charging the cop.
They'll have people coming out of the woodwork claiming past abuse and hoping to sue. Hopefully after the Scott's family sues there won't leave much for the vultures.
I’d be curious to know who provided the video, and what may have been cut out of it.
If what I have read is reasonably accurate, then it looks like this guy got out of his car, started a fight with the officer, grabbed his taser, dropped it in a further struggle, and then ran.
Then the officer shot him in the back.
Did the video include any of the earlier part of this, maybe cut by the provider?
Shooting a fleeing crook in the back isn’t good. But I don’t see this as deliberate murder. He had at least some justification for what he did. More like manslaughter, at worst.
That should be a riot, the discovery phase of the trial. The cockroaches are all scurrying all over trying to erase all their criminal records and warrants.
Popcorn time!
The court of public opinion will be relentless in these “victims.”
Wait until the silent witnesses and evidence emerge : all the events that transpired prior to the ectual shooting, but was unrecorded out of deliberate “carelessness.”
At the start of each shift every cop in America should remind themselves that they are probably being being video recorded.

They should sue - the young man was murdered....
This is premature at best.
