You can’t knock out asthma. Also if he is so concerned about asthma why send his daughter to Hawaii and India which are tropical regions which are probably the worst climates for people with breathing problems.
One of my friend’s sons had asthma when he was young and taken to the ER on at least 1 occasion. I remember her telling me that the doctor told her that some kids have asthma when their young and they “outgrow” it (for lack of a better term. He did a few years later and was very active in sports and is now in the AF.

The air quality in Los Angeles, although impacted severely by modern transportation, industry, etc., is much more a product of it’s location. In 1840, Richard Dana wrote a book, “Two Years Before the Mast”, in which he wrote about his experiences as a common sailor on a sailing ship from New England to California and back. They traded up and down coastal California and his desciption of the air conditions in the Los Angeles basin point out that the smoke from every fire just hangs in there, a wood/charcoal smog. The winds don’t blow it away. Skip from circa 1835 to 2015, add several million people, several million cars, trucks, planes, fireplaces, outdoor cooking, etc, etc and only in your imagination will you find fresh clean air. LA: no water, no air movement and you expect Paradise?
Well, if we enter another ice age, I guess there won’t be any of that pesky pollen hanging around, and his problems will be solved.
