A North Charleston police officer was arrested on a murder charge and the FBI opened a civil rights investigation Tuesday after video surfaced of the lawman shooting eight times at 50-year-old Walter Scott as he ran away.
Scott died Saturday after Patrolman 1st Class Michael Slager, 33, shot him in the back.
The video footage, which The Post and Courier obtained Tuesday from a source who asked to remain anonymous, shows the end of the confrontation between the two on

Watched the incident this evening on ABC & NBC national news. Both showed the same tape ... the suspect running from the police officer with a taser string trailing behind him. Either he (the suspect) was in possession of the taser ... or, it was embedded in his torso and wasn't effective for some reason in subduing him.
The jury is still out on this incident ...
You forgot the part when the cop went and got the taser, and planted it next to the body.
I’m surprised they did not shoot the guy with the camera.
8 out of 8 were hits?
> Sharpton and friends are going to go nuts on this one.It appears that they would be justified, for once.
Tend to agree no matter what the exchange between the officer and the perp was. Once he began running away justification to use deadly force was vanquished. I know there are laws on the books in some states about being able to use deadly force to stop theft of property but c’mon. The officer wa way over the top. I stand by my taking him to Ferguson without his gun and letting him out in the projects in ufll uniform.
I don’t doubt this will be politicized by the race war agitators. They got quite a bit of outrage in Ferguson when it was clear that Brown got part of his thumb shot off struggling inside the police car. Now, finally there is an unjust shooting. The officer should be convicted. The race hustlers will paint all whites for this and try to implement 0bama’s black liberation theology to take white assets and eliminate whites. Maybe keep some whites as servants. They don’t hate slavery like I do, they just want the power swapped.
Taser is only a 5 second duration. It has to be activated again for another 5 second burst.
He must have had the camera concealed.
The only justification would be if the perp was carrying a gun, where the fleeing felon rule might come in.
I really don’t see anything here but a murder in broad daylight under color of law.
Oh, I don’t know.... things like the guy resisting arrest, fighting with the cop, taking the taser away from him... that sort of thing. You really don’t believe that the incident started at the same time the video did, do you?
“...The jury is still out on this incident ......”

Must be a pretty stupid jury...this was clearly murder. Some people simply shouldn’t be cops.
This is very bad. No justification I can see for the shooting.
There’s a far more likely reason for picking up the taser from the ground where it fell in the middle of the struggle and moving it up to where the rest of it was still stuck in Scott’s clothing than your assumed “planting”.
You can see the taser laying at the cop's feet after the suspect takes off. Two seconds into the video =>
” I say turn the cop loose in full uniform with badge and no gun in Ferguson.”
_____________
I think there are some fellas on the cell block who have already called, “Dibs”.
The cop appears to pickup the taser, or something, and walk over to the suspect, and drop it on the ground.
That is, it appears to show the cop planting evidence.
Or doing something that looks like planting evidence.
The charge is murder.
Sounds kinda like what they might do in the Middle East.
“Oh, I dont know.... things like the guy resisting arrest, fighting with the cop, taking the taser away from him... that sort of thing. “
You are un-freaking-believable.
To ever say that because a suspect resisted arrest makes and fought with the cop makes it okay for the cop to kill him in cold blood is beyond the pale. That’s against the law to shoot someone in the back when they are running away and are no threat to you.
You need to get out into the real world, around some regular people for a change of perspective.

What is it for going to get it, and taking it over and dropping by the body of a dead man that he has just shot, and is now a crime scene?
