So, if I purchase an assault weapon for $500, I can get $2,000 for it from the government. Net profit: $1,500.
I was just thinking about a certain Mini-14 with a chronic feed problem. I haven’t sold it because I’m hesitant to foist it onto someone - but to stick it to the government and net such a nice profit would be double-plus good!
NO.
It means you get to claim $2,000 of your taxable income. That won't add to much in a tax return...that will then become seize-able by the gub'mint if you ain't got O-Care.
Clever little beoches - eh wot?
But it's not really a cash return. It's a tax credit So if you owe the government say $3000 to begin with, AFTER you turn in your gun, you'll only owe them an additional $1,000.

Think very very carefully. Who is the government, and where do they get any cash? You purchase with your own money, a semi-automatic firearm, misnamed an assault weapon. The Government supplies you with a two thouand dollar tax credit, also from your own pocket, or your generous neighbors, you turn in the gun. Net Loss 2,500 dollars and the gun.
...and once again the government has taken the American people to the cleaners using their own money and some other things best not mentioned. On top of that Rosa gets political points.
