“Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God.” -T. Jefferson
This is an important article because it highlights the power of the county sheriff. No one can fire a sheriff except the people who elected the sheriff. He serves at the will of the people, not some tyrant. No governor, no state or federal attorney general, no state or federal legislator can fire him. The sheriff is elected and reelected by the citizenry of the county he serves. So, all the tyrants of the world can just go shove it. If they come after him, he can deputize the entire county if he has to. He is the one true line in sand and law enforcement authority between tyrants and the people.
Seems they want what they want when they want it. Principles? Who needs 'em.
Thanks, I was unaware of that. Sheriff Smith’s hypocrisy is unfortunate. Especially so to me since he’s my sheriff. He was right about gun control laws and has done an excellent job under the very trying circumstances of multiple major forest fires in 2012 and the enormous flood of 2013.
Ain’t no borders no mo’, so there ain’t no line.
“Our Bonner County sheriff has gone on record saying that the Second Amendment should be the only permit you need.”
Wonderful, now how about the a$$hole that runs Multnomah, County? I bet you he’s just like the a$$hole we have for a sheriff here in Contra Costa County, CA, or the big a$$hole over in San Francisco who beat his wife and now can’t even carry a gun himself but can still somehow remain sheriff!!!
He threw down the gauntlet and took the leap - don't fault him for being "tactful".
