Two lawsuits have been filed seeking information about the U.S. military’s plan to use women to “close with and kill” the enemy, based on reports that suggest having women in “tip of the spear” fighting units such as the Rangers and the Navy SEALs may be counterproductive.
The Obama administration announced two years ago it would make female military personnel eligible for assignment to direct ground combat units, including the infantry, beginning in January 2016. Under the military’s structure, women would be ordered into such positions.
Various military agencies and units since then have been analyzing the safety and effectiveness of the strategy along with the Center for Military Readiness, an independent group.
Lawyers with the Thomas More Law Center have submitted a number of Freedom of Information Act requests for details on behalf of CMR and its president, Elaine Donnelly, without effect.
So the law team announced it has filed a FOIA lawsuit against the U.S. Special Operations Command in federal court in the Eastern District of Michigan and a second against the Army in federal court in Washington.
Both are on behalf of Donnelly and seek records “related to the effectiveness of women in direct combat roles.”
Since founding CMR in 1993, Donnelly has researched and reported on social policy in military service. She recently has worked with Erin Mersino, senior trial counsel for Thomas More, on the information requests.
“Adherence to the FOIA is crucial because it allows the public access to our government,” Mersino said. “The documents we requested under FOIA are time sensitive. Permanent decisions regarding women in the infantry are projected to be made as soon as January 2016. The public should be informed of such important matters that directly affect our national security.”

Combat is tough enough already without adding stupid and unnatural social experiments.

In all seriousness, I do want 18 year old women registered for the draft. With DiFi and Barbara Botox and all the rest of the NAGS screaming for equality, there is no reason why women should be exempt from draft registration.
There are plenty of jobs in the military that do not require slogging in the field with full packs, so every woman drafted to work in a support position frees up a man to do the tip of the spear work on the battlefield.
Couldn’t agree more. If they want the job, they must perform at the same level as their male counterparts and be subject to the draft the same as our Sons.
Want EQUAL RIGHTS be able to perform EQUALLY. That goes for Fire, PD or EMT’s. And any other job you females want, that is better done by a male’s muscle and strength.
That means you don’t get time off for your monthly periods PMS garbage. Learn to deal with it in the field like men learn to deal with their hygiene needs.
They can start with the 18 year old girls from CONGRESS and the President.
I’d prefer if my President had recent WAR time experience.

Yes indeed, I’ve been saying this for years. Go by any USPS office and you’ll see those forms about 18 year old boys signing up for the draft under penalty of law. But not girls. Where’s the equal protection of the laws in this and why aren’t women clamoring against this discrimination? How about Chelsea Clinton and Obama’s daughters when they turn eighteen. Typical liberal hypocrisy.
What I fear is it will distract the other men in a battle situation, plus if a comrade is injured, do you really think a 120 lb. woman is going to carry a 200 man to safety? And we haven’t even started talking about being captured by the enemy. Insane.

One of the 1st things I tried to do after graduating high school in 1980 was join the military. I went to an Air Force recruiting office the 1st Monday afterwards. There are several members of my family who did serve, & after considering that the Iran hostage crisis was going on at the time, I felt like I had a duty to serve our country (I was still 17 also, but hoped that wouldn't matter to the Recruiter 'cuz I didn't think they had to know). But alas. one of the 1st questions the Recruiter asked me was, "Do you take any kinds of medication?". GULP....yes, I do, 'cuz I have epilepsy. The interview didn't last 5 minutes, & my dreams were crushed. Even to this day I wonder how much better my life would have been had I been allowed to wear the Uniform.

The Progressives have a way for fixing those "problems": lower the standards in order to make sure that women can be able to reach them. Doing otherwise would be sexist, wouldn't it?
Almost never brought up is that all all of these failures during evaluation/training cost allot of money and resources. At a basic level it’s not likely a male will ever see his first base after failing training and reevaluations. Not so with women as the commands are directed to pass a certain number of women, ready or not.
Yep. That is the whole point of my proposition. Make mommy and daddy liberal face the fact that their dear sweet daughters and sons may be drafted (no college deferments and no escaping by claiming to be gay) and they may think twice about what they are pushing. Some of them will accept the loss of their children - you can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs. But enough of them will be appalled enough at that prospect that they actually question their own beliefs about the absolute equality of everyone for everything.
I grant you that epilepsy is a bad thing and clearly would keep you from serving in uniform - but it doesn't relieve you of the responsibility of posting responsibly/insulting others' intelligence.
That last post reinforces my impression that you would be none too useful in combat or handling anything potentially harmful to those around you.

Read your own posts: in the first, you refer to the draft as “involuntary servitude” and your next post describe military service as a simply a career with lifetime benefits.
You’re talking to a combat veteran that lost friends in war and who lost part of his right leg to a machine gun bullet. It isn’t just a career with dandy benefits - it’s a risky, dangerous mission for the young people who take it up for their nation. And the draft isn’t “involuntary servitude”. It’s a national obligation for men of the appropriate age.
You apparently believe that service in war is just for some and not all.
