The White House has announced a goal to train 75,000 workers in the solar industry by 2020, many of them veterans. "These are good-paying jobs that are helping folks enter the middle-class," President Barack Obama said on Friday at Hill Air Force Base in Utah. The plan will expand on the Department of Energy SunShot Initiative's Solar Instructor Training Network currently running at more than 400 community colleges. The White House also announced the Solar Ready Vets program aimed at helping veterans transition into the solar industry. A joint program between the Department of Defense and the DOE, it's currently being launched at 10 military bases across the country, including Hill Air Force Base and Camp Pendleton in California.

Going up on roofs in summer for anything can be brutal, especially applying hot tar on flat roofs.

Obama’s legacy will be a list of intangibles; as far as any accomplishments that can be verified (jobs, standard of living, urban quality of life, healthcare, etc.) he is a proven failure. Instead we’ll learn how he single-handedly changed Americans’ hearts about “gay equality”, provided health insurance (NOT HEALTH CARE) to all Americans, saved the environment, blah blah blah).
He is truly the president of lowered expectations.

A few years ago, I used to drive past a BP solar panel plant on the way home from work. I still drive past the same place sometimes, but the plant is gone. I guess it just wasn’t profitable.

Compared to the average Obama voter, vets were pretty much middle class and upper class -- until the White House fired them.
