I will not be associated in any way with those who despise and disparage constitutional freedoms, not the least of which is constitutionally guaranteed freedom of religion and conscience. Your's is a fascist worldview, and I shudder at the thought that many more could hold this with regard to the condemnation of common sense religious freedom laws.

That’s right. If you don’t pay their extortion fees the good reviews disappear and the bad ones stay.
It seems to me that Yelp is open to anyone who has/opens an account and wants to write a review or make a comment. FWIW, I find many of the worst and best reviews on Yelp, Urban Spoon, Google reviews or on Amazon to be complete BS. But to my knowledge, Yelp doesn’t do much of anything to moderate comments unless they contain malicious spam links or obscene language. Just because a bunch of libs have spammed the site with “bad reviews” doesn’t make Yelp bad and how exactly is this Yelp’s fault or make them “fascists”? Has Yelp removed all positive and supportive posts and positive reviews?
FWIW there are many comments posted in support of Memories Pizza’s owners. When I searched Yelp + Memories Pizza, this 5 star comment was currently at the top.
Grateful for them in making a stand for their BELIEFS.
Just as a friend of mine was recently told by a Muslim business owner that he would do a logo design for him, because my friend's company is clearly a Christian one. My friends response? "Ok, no problem, I'll go elsewhere, God Bless you". PERIOD. End of story.
No freaking out, no panicking, no screaming about Christian rights or lack thereof because this Muslim business owner wouldn't design his logo for his company.... geez people. ENOUGH.
Channel that energy into something USEFUL. Like world hunger, poverty, human trafficking - there are sadly too many things that sorely need more of our attention and less rhetoric and whining.

Fascinating. So why is it that the hypothetical gay couple are entitled to their belief but the hypothetical Christian couple are not entitled to their belief, spiritual or otherwise?
Why should one opinion take precedence over another? And why do 'progressives' want to hurt anyone who disagrees with them?
And then there is this one by someone named "Cultureman" who by his Yelp profile appears to be a Black man with a love of “Sweet Reggae Music” who lives in, of all places San Fransico. Wow! He gets it and it’s well worth the read.

That is what dwells in my heart which I'm sure myself I will get a lot of hate here for, and lose friends in the process. But we need to think just beyond our own personal opinions. To someone of any faith, being asked to provide a business service to something with which they disagree morally (gay marriage in this case) is tantamount to expressly endorsing that activity. Those who say Christians should not judge are missing that point. They point to Jesus and his actions w/ the poor and w/ sinners. Yes, but he also told those same sinners to go forth and .... Scenario for you....
In Seattle, WA (yes, I did some research here) not only are sexual orientation, race, gender protected classes, but so is political affiliation. And this applies not just to employment, but in general to most public business establishments.
So..... a black man/woman/family owns a bakery (easy example to use) and a person comes in and wants several cakes, cupcakes, etc for an event to honor the birthday of one Nathan Bedford Forrest ....the founder of the KKK.
In your opinion, does that black owned business have the right to tell that would be customer to take a hike or not? If yes, please explain with logical detail how that differs from a Christian owned business declining to do a gay wedding.
A Jewish owned business (bakery, graphic design firm, caterer, etc) is approached by a member of a white supremacist group who wishes to hire them for an event honoring the birth of Adolph Hitler. Can that business owner tell them to go pound sand?
Similarly, a gay owned business approached by somebody for an event supporting "traditional marriage". Can he/she tell them to leave?
So, please.... in logical detail (not some emotional, revenge driven rant as I see here already) explain how the Christian, or black, or jew, or gay, or strait, or pro choice, or pro life owned business cannot politely decline a specific business request.
Remember, under Seattle law (and many other localities and states also have similar laws protecting political affiliation as a class) that would be client can sue (successfully or not is a different matter) under local city law. And even if they do not win the lawsuit, the money the business will have to expend in court costs could break their business.
It is very tempting and easy to dislike a certain group and shrug ones shoulders and say "meh, they should have thought of that before they went into business". And since it is so easy and tempting is exactly why one should resist that thought.
You, I, and everybody else here has an innate right to our own self-conscience, as well as a right to decide with whom we associate with and whom we do not.
Do you really wish a society where I can approach you and compel you under the authority of the State to engage in an action which you feel condones an action with which you disagree on a strong moral level?
Ponder that for a while then get back to me. I'm just happy to have a new day.
Maybe instead of getting your panties all in a wad and demanding that Yelp close your account because you didn’t like what the libs and gaystopo posted, you could have written something as well written and thoughtful something along the lines that "Cultureman" did.
Closing your Yelp account does nothing but silence your voice.

An Open Letter to States Considering Imposing Discrimination Laws
Posted by Jeremy, Yelp CEOA little over one year ago I wrote an open letter to then-Arizona Governor Jan Brewer requesting that she veto SB 1062, a bill that would have allowed businesses in the state to discriminate against consumers. Thankfully she did the right thing and vetoed that legislation, thus maintaining Arizona’s status as a hospitable place for Yelp’s employees to live and for our company to do business.
Since that time, however, legislators in other states have sought to pass, or have enacted, laws that would allow for businesses to discriminate against consumers based on certain traits including sexual orientation. While Indiana is the most recent state to enact a law allowing for this kind of discrimination by businesses, unfortunately measures are being debated in other states across the country that would follow Indiana’s example. These laws set a terrible precedent that will likely harm the broader economic health of the states where they have been adopted, the businesses currently operating in those states and, most importantly, the consumers who could be victimized under these laws.
Just as I said in my letter to Governor Brewer, it is unconscionable to imagine that Yelp would create, maintain, or expand a significant business presence in any state that encouraged discrimination by businesses against our employees, or consumers at large. I encourage states that are considering passing laws like the one rejected by Arizona or adopted by Indiana to reconsider and abandon these discriminatory actions. (We’re looking at you, Arkansas.)
I hope that in the future the legislatures in the nineteen states that have these laws on the books will reconsider their actions. In the mean time, Yelp will make every effort to expand its corporate presence only in states that do not have these laws allowing for discrimination on the books.
I also hope that other companies will draw a similar line in the sand for equality on behalf of their employees and the greater public to persuade legislators to do the right thing and stop or rescind these harmful laws.

Mrs. JimRed has used that hen we were driving to check on nearby restaurants> I pointed out to her that the good reviews were probably restaurant staff and relatives, while the bad ones were likely competitors’ staff and relatives.
A private note to management would be kinder, followed by outing them if they won't improve.

I found that to be true as well. I used to avoid restaurants based on bad reviews at Yelps but not anymore. Especially when I realized many of my favorite restaurants locally were getting bad reviews, most likely because people went out of their way to be "snarky" and put on elitist airs.
Also, politics plays a role in the reviews. There is a liquor store I frequent that has an amazing selection of microbrews and wines. The place is well-lit, spotless and very well run by conservatives. I know they are conservatives because I know them personally but also because the walls are covered in Americana, including the Marine Corps and United States flags and other patriotic themes among the very many vintage beer signage from the past.
I can see your typical liberal walking into that place and cringing. Hence the snarky reviews trying to drive customers away.
So, do YOU oppose people who oppose freedom?
Obviously I don’t but don’t let that stop you from calling me names.
And the CEO’s opinion withstanding, that doesn’t change the facts of which I posted – that there are many positive posts on Yelp supporting Memories Pizza some of which I posted and unless Yelp moves to remove any and all positive comments and keeping only the pro-gay marriage and hateful posts, and I don’t see them scrubbing the positive posts, then they are not being “fascists”. Jeremy, Yelp’s CEO is certainly a jerk but he’s entitled to his opinion too.

Again, my point is that you and others closing your Yelp account over the CEO’s statement does nothing but give the detractors a larger voice while silencing your own. I suggest it would have been better to post something positive, something in support of Memories Pizza before closing your account. Trust me, your closing your Yelp account will have little or no effect on Yelps bottom line and it is very unlikely that any human there will ever read or care about your reasons why as these things tend to be automated, run by computer programs. Just saying.
I was perfectly factual and objective in all my reviews.
My apologies if I assumed that most Freepers weren’t aware of Yelp’s stance in the latest fray; there has been at least half a dozen recent posts on the Indiana fiasco involving them. I relied on my impression that we were more than a little more informed bunch.
Since re-reading my post, I realized that I was a little ambiguous in my reference. Anyway, I should have posted that president’s open letter in the original post. But I won’t back off of my reasoning for deleting my account. this is the most powerful way to get these leftists’ attention. If even 5% of conservatives acted according to their beliefs, we’d transform the marketplace.
