Jesus would wouldnt give a guy a free fish but would have him hook his own.
Jesus told the men who would be His disciples to cast their nets and they were rewarded with a huge haul. He freely gave fish; however, the fish and everything else are His.
Liberals such as Cats would solicit the government to take your fish from your net intended to feed your children and give it to others after keeping a generous portion for themselves and their political donors.
Well I live in Alabama and I have done my part. what about you?
I meet with several like minded men once a month. The majority of us are military retirees. One guy is very well educated concerning the founders, “REAL” (non revisionist) American History and Civil Government.
He’s the one who challenged us to attend local government meetings.
I’m also involved with the American Legion and the Disabled American Vets.
I use the crockpot to make tough, cheap cuts of meat that I WORKED to pay for taste as good as EBT steaks.
“Ain’t nobody got time fo dat!”
Yes, I think you're right...in fact there's a very close cousin of Maine lobster lurking in the Mississippi. I believe they're called catfish .
Snurf!! Huh? What?
Worse was breakfasts of powdered milk on puffed rice cereal and no sugar allowed. The plain bagged puffed rice cereal with zero taste, not the one with the cute honey bear on the box. Don’t know why, but at age 7 we had a box of Carnation Instant Breakfast That was a good week! The vanilla didn’t cover up the powdered milk taste but the chocolate and strawberry sure did help. Sophomore year in high school, mother started to buy grocery store milk - Lucianne brand 49 cents a quart but guess she said something because shortly after was when the neighbor started supplying the real cow milk. Funny the things we remember.
I can tell you pretty much where most of it goes.
Sweet Brown reference. .. well played. I GOTS BRONCHITIS.!
Hey Kids Its ALPO and ice cream NIGHT!!!
No. It is vastly different. I have earned my retirement dollars. I have worked full time, so far, for 39 years. Including raising my two children as a single parent for 15 years, with minimal child support. And it will likely be another 10 years before I can retire, and then will not have enough money to afford all the goodies that many of the EBT and welfare takers seem to enjoy.
I don’t want to “control how others live” as you have indicated. If they earn their own money, they can damn well buy all the steak and lobster they can afford.
If they are getting money due to my working hard for all of these years, paying thousands upon thousands of dollars in taxes (which I could have saved for my own retirement or used to have my own steak and lobster all these years), then I do have a right to be ticked off about the abuses of the system and the abuses built into the system, presumably so those who choose not to work “don’t have to suffer”. Well, then, who suffers?
Ok I have been reading this and another thread about this for the past two days and I have been deciding if I wanted to post.
I am in MO and I have food stamps. I will admit to buying some of the things they want to ban. The difference is it is only about 5% or less a month of the amount I get that might go toward buying the “junk” food. So $10 or less. My cart is filled usually with real food that I have to put together and cook myself.
Soda - usually store brand or on sale. Get it for when my headaches are really bad and need the extra boost for the Excedrin since I can only take 2 a day. Also quickest way to get my blood sugar up when needed.
Chips are usually as a part of a meal. Especially in the warmer months to go with sandwiches or salads. Plain potato, corn or tortilla chips. Not much more than 3-4 ingredients.
Cookies - usually bake my own but I do buy fig bars a few times a year and there is a caramel covered shortbread at Dollar General I like to get to use as the base of a no bake cheesecake but I don’t make this often.
Steaks- hahaha yeah right if I won’t get ground beef at $2.99/lb I sure won’t get steak. Pork: the new Beef is my new saying. Now if I found a really good sale on steak I would be kind of annoyed if I couldn’t get it. Maybe instead of a ban they could put a $/lb limit. Not a coincidence that my anemia has gotten worse the past 2-3 years as the beef prices have gone up and I have eaten less of it.
Seafood - mostly canned tuna (on sale) and salmon. I did get two packs of shrimp last month that W-M had for $5. Occasionally get other fish. I don’t eat much fish so not worth buying a license or I would go catch some trout.
Energy drinks - yuck.

This month I plan on buying some of the plants at Wal-Mart to try to grow some of my veggies.
I buy sale items, store brand (some items I have to get name brand), damaged (from food service outlet)and if I have a coupon for something I normally get or want to try I will use them.
I buy water - w-m drinking water for $.88/gallon and bottles from Aldi. I haven’t drank tap water since we moved here back in the 80’s from Florida where we had great tap water. Our city water is crap and I don’t trust the filters. One of my OCD things. I drink at least a gallon a day plus all the ice I chew.
I actually like cooking most of my food from scratch. If I want pizza (and don’t want to make it myself) I get the Take and Bake from Aldi or W-M.
I don’t eat fast food often. I can’t even remember the last time and it has nothing to do with my memory problems. lol
I don’t smoke and rarely drink. I have no car and have to have family take me shopping, to doctors appointments and anywhere else I need to go. My cell phone is the same since I bought it in December 2007. I still have it at the $1/day plan only because I have bummed the $25 every 3 months from my mom. I usually can afford to pay for it myself once a year. I have no kids.
What I do have is a ton of medical issues. Some genetic, some could have been dealt with when I was younger and not caused other issues, some caused by medicine that was supposed to help and yes some I caused myself.
To be honest it pisses me off as much as most of you when I see carts filled with junk. Not just a few items but filled with nothing but junk.
I also think they need to do something about the fraud first.

Well, since the government is practically allowing California to run out of water, well, we are going to be in big trouble, I am sorry, you cannot conjure water out of thin air like you can print however much money is neccessary to fund EBT.
It’s kind of late now but desalination plants would have gone a long way to keep from getting California into this mess.
Yep. Let’s keep sending them money so they can buy tattoos and go to casinos.
