See tagline... as a former Mormon myself, generally it is considered permissible to lie to ‘gentiles’ (any non Mormon even Jews), but it is frowned on to lie to other ‘active, temple going’ Mormons. However rarely is anything ever done about it unless it involves a member in high standing (like Romney) vs. a lower member.

Reid vs Romney, nothing will be done. Both are high standing members and the rank and file tend to GOP. Romney is more Mormon royalty than Reid (convert) so while Reid won’t be punished he will be gossiped about and thought less of. Of course converts are lower beings anyway.

I can assure you. Having had 2 contractors that were proudly Mormon, they lie freely and frequently.

Years before Wilford Woodruff as Mormon president and prophet lied in 1890 about stopping polygamy, he lied so he could preach the lies of Mormonism in Christian England..
Mar 16, 1840 - In England Wilford Woodruff obtains a preaching license. He has to classify himself as a protestant and swear allegiance to Queen Victoria.
