I am encouraged by your spunk...
What you would be doing in such a case is demonstrating that you don’t “sustain” your bishop...
This would also indicate that his judgement is being called into question as well as that of the Stake Presidency...who called him, and on up the chain to the 1st Presidency.
They are, afterall, “called by god” for such a position...this could almost be construed by them as heresy...cause for excommunication.
“I am encouraged by your spunk...”
Lol. Thank you, that is the nicest thing I’ve heard all day :)
I think you misunderstand that it really is a real vote. But what has happened is that tradition has made people just go along with whatever is presented. The bishop will probably pull that person aside to discuss their concerns. Bishop has final say and that’s where people get into trouble. The ones that don’t accept that authority, whether right or wrong, can end up fighting their way into disciplinary action.
Had this conversation with a stake president regarding a certain bishop who. Sustaining a leader doesn’t mean you have to agree with them. But it means that you will support them and help them. People are human. Nothing is ever going to be perfect.
