The Russian’s have been told that “life is hard, then you die.”
The Communists have given them a hard life, in spades.
They do love that boot on the neck and seem lost without it.
Hell, Stalin was not even a Russian. He was from Georgia.
It took a whole lotta Russians to put and keep Stalin in power.
“Russians seem to innately desire a maniacal boot crushing their head.”
My neighbor back in the 1970s was a Russian who immigrated here after WW II. He loved America and hated Russian commies with a passion.
Solzhenitsyn hated the Soviet Union so much at one point while in prison he wished the U.S. would drop an atomic bomb on the Kremlin. If he knew how evil the SU was, I’m sure millions of other Russians did as well.

As a former Soviet, I can say that this is mainly due to WWII. Stalin has almost godlike status and gets a free pass because they did not lose the War. Many also credit him for the soviet industrial revolution. The saying is “he was a really good piece of sh**”. I knew people who survived his starvation policies and said this.
Russians don’t like rules or authority or dictators. Except for publicly challenging the party, there are very few rules enforced for the average person.
I read your home page. Inspiring!
What's really hurting us is that the population in this country is becoming as brainwashed has the people in Russia.
You got that right. Our media is what Pravda was to the USSR and about 50% of our country believes all of their lies.
I know how they feel. Half of our country votes democrat, which is the same.
The canal was constructed by forced labour of gulag inmates. During its construction by a total of 126,000 workers, about 12,000 died, according to the official records,[1] while historian Anne Applebaum's estimate is 25,000 deaths.
