You are right, I went on the pump last year, and gained about 20 pounds. The idea was to get off the 7 injections a day (lantus, victoza, and novolog, plus metformin pills). But since the weight gain, he put me back on victoza once a day (in addition to the pump) to help control weight gain. That was last month, I am not sure if it’s really working that well, I lost 3 pounds in a month, but that could be from anything.

The continual basal flow of Novolog just puts on the pounds, but I am happy to say my A1C is now around 7.5 on average, where before I was 10-11 with the 7 injections. Type 2 btw.

As a side note, I would recommend the Medtronic Insulin pump to anyone who has more than a few daily injections. Painless insertions, I can look to see what my BG level is at any time, and it has warnings of high and low BG levels. You just put in the carbs you eat and it automatically sends the right amount of insulin. It’s been a life saver for me.

Ask your doctor about a new FDA approved med called Belviq. It's specifically recommended for patients diagnosed with obesity, high BP, and/or Type II diabetes. I've been on it for about three weeks now, and have dropped about ten pounds. And my activity level is still low due to a slow recovery from a staph infection in my leg last year. They even have one month free trial prescriptions, to let you get a feel for the effectiveness. So far, I haven't noticed any side effects. Other than my pants fitting looser.
