Friend of mine found out the hard way he had diabetes—went into shock day after Easter and got a 600. Part of high risk group, being black; very overweight, family history (mother had it), almost 40 y.o. He was told one thing that saved him was the fact he didn’t smoke or drink. He uses insulin tho is still overweight but prob has it in control.

Insulin actually will make you gain weight. It's one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't scenarios. I do shots of insulin AND Victoza in the evenings, plus two pills a day.
