Wow, someone pointed out to me that this is an entrance off of 295, Balt-Wash Parkway. I wasn’t even aware (I go by 32 all the time, and assume NSA is very closed).
So, it IS accurate, it’s just we’re looking at the wrong entrance. It’s the connector road that turns into Canine Rd.
But it is still not “Llewellyn Ave” in Ft. Meade!
That would make sense - the checkpoint on the connector road in that location is shown as having four lanes, and other features (such as the contour of the medians in the area) look like they match what was shown in the helicopter images.
The possibility that the perps entered the area by mistake and crashed through a barrier at the checkpoint out of panic (due to having contraband in the car) in an attempt to flee by turning around just past the checkpoint might be a viable explanation for the incident.
Sure sucks to be them, huh...
