An Air Canada plane has reportedly crashed on the runway of the the Halifax International Airport on Sunday, but injuries have not yet been reported.
The plane likely clipped power lines that led to the crash. The incident led to power outage at the airport, and reports suggest that passangers are safe.
More details are awaited.

Flightaware shows they circled several times west of the airport(hold?)...possibly waiting for visibility conditions to improve to minimums at the airport...or other.

How in the heck does a plane clip power lines coming into a runway? May have clipped them after it exited the runway in the skid.

AC603, the very early flight to Toronto, scheduled as an A320, is canceled.
Can’t imagine why....

Stands to reason, with the dew point nearing ambient, there’s bound to be fog... and it was snowing as well.

Really? Power lines strung across the end of an airport runway? Where they can interfere with air traffic? What could possibly go wrong there? Sounds like part of a Laurel & Hardy movie plot.

Eddie Rickenbacker, the WWI Ace later founded Eastern Airlines. In the early days of commercial aviation, he was in a crash of an airliner. Electricians were wiring the airport lights and ran a power line across the runway.
He was one of the few survivors and was hospitalized for several months.

Flightaware shows they circled several times west of the airport(hold?)...If they had enough fuel for that, maybe they could have gone somewhere else.
