Inshallah really should be translated “God willing”, seeing that Arabic speaking Christians also say it. I once knew an old Orthodox Christian woman of Lebanese ancestry whose name was Inshallah because her mother had resigned herself to apparent barrenness before her conception, and would answer questions about when she planned to have children with “Inshallah”. (Since there is no St. Inshallah to be her patron, like all Orthodox Christians — Serbs aside, since their families have patron saints — whose given name is not a saint’s name, her heavenly patron was the Virgin Mary.)
