Indiana Governor Mike Pence signed into law Thursday a bill he claims will protect religious liberty in his state. Overwhelmingly approved by that states Republican-controlled legislature, the law allows businesses and workers, citing their religious beliefs, to refuse service to anyone they find objectionable. Of course, what the so-called religious freedom act really does is legalize discrimination against lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and transgender people.

Too many small business owners have been forced out of business by the demands of an extreme minority. Mike Pence is on to something...
I predict that it will not survive a court challenge and someday photographers, bakers, caterers, etc, will be obliged to provide service to polygamists, polyamorists, pedophiles and perverts the depravity of which we have yet to see.
The U. S. Constitution includes religious freedom as one of the protected rights, but it doesn’t include homosexual behavior as a protected right.
Hmmmm . . . .
The line in the sand here is whether the state has the power to force private institutions to comply with the social cause du jour or not.
Liberals cannot allow conscientious objection to the will of the state.
(this is how our arguments in public should be framed)
Some 19 states already have an almost identical law and another 11 or 12 have something similar with more heading in that direction.
These lawmakers are, at least, trying to stop the pro slavery movement that is the American liberal establishment. They are using religion as a vehicle in this case. Let’s hope they succeed i.e. outlast possible challenges by the pro slavery people before a pro slavery judge.
Those businesses should be able to work around that problem by reorganizing as private clubs. If a prospect has to interview before being invited to pay a fee to join, the weeding-out could commence. Once they became members, after paying their one-time $10 membership fee, all members would have to adhere to the rules of the private club, whatever they might be and however they might evolve.
Liberals believe religious people are bigots.
And bigots don’t deserve legal protection or social approval.
That’s really why they’re up in arms over the new Indiana law.
It’s laughable to hear leftist prigs lecture others about intolerance.
Tolerate intolerance.
Lefties need to think of it this way...
Should Ebony magazine be forced by the government to print KKK recruitment ads?
Because the same principle is at stake.
If there is an undeserved market, let my competitor step up.
Unserved...
It’s a shame the religious right can’t find a PR team and followers like the GLBT world. In no time at all they’ve managed to turn public opinion to their side, and very much against believers in traditional religious beliefs and societal norms.
I don’t know about bakers but the day a gay couple can’t find a gay florist, doing business within a 5 minute walk of a Christian florist, there’d be pigs flying. But that gay couple would go out of its way to find the practicing Christian florist to challenge his/her right NOT to serve their “wedding,’ so they could file suit and put that Christian florist out of business.
So far we’ve seen florists, bakers and venue owners put out of business but these fabricated suits. I wish more states would provide safety for those who refuse to serve anyone for any reason, particularly their religious belief. But the GLBT action network is going to make IN stand alone and probably, in time, back track.
I wonder about how much time is spent looking for a shop that will do it as opposed the time spent looking for a shop that will not do it.
Or is it just a search for someone to bring suit against?
Necessarily Religion is intolerant of evil. Kinda’ goes without saying.
No it is to preserve tolerance for those with sincere religious convictions.
Hey Renee Graham, the most intolerant among us are you liberals. People, business owners are far and away tolerant of gays. But, that is not good enough. You liberals demand participation. You would love to nothing more than to see a business owner FORCED to provide goods and services at the point of gun. You want humiliation. Sick-o, psycho, sadistic.
