Since the Reagan reelection landslide in 1984, no GOP nominee has ever received more than 60% of the white vote.

Could it be simply because there has been NO ONE since Mr. Reagan who went completely around the MSM and spoke DIRECTLY to the people?

Cruz has vestiges of that ability and they appear to be getting stronger.

Re: “Could it be simply because there has been NO ONE since Mr. Reagan who went completely around the MSM and spoke DIRECTLY to the people?”

In 2015, with the Internet, there has been no time in American history when speaking directly to voters was easier or less expensive.

Before World War 2, almost all voters were white, but only a couple of the Founding Fathers, Warren G. Harding, and FDR were able to get more than 60% of the popular vote.

After World War 2, no Democrat has received more than 60% of the white vote, and Reagan was the only Republican to do it, in 1984.

In other words, getting 62% of the white vote in America is really, really tough.

But, in 2016, 62% of the white vote is how much Cruz needs to win, just to get a TINY majority in the popular vote and in the electoral college.

Can he do that, can ANY Republican get 62% of the white vote in 2016?

I personally doubt it - unless a left wing Third Party candidate emerges and bleeds votes away from the Democrat nominee, which seems unlikely at the moment.
